Haven't they doubled since last month? Is there a shortage of some BS special component in Afganistan that I didn't read about.

Good question. I think there just inflating the prices because they can.. like gas prices (which I hear are expected to jump back up again)

micron bought shares of some korean companies and i think won some lawsuits with some. that caused some of them to have to lower production, or micron made them do it since they own parts of the companies.

also ddr ram is more in demand now, because of all the new p4 ddr chipsets, specifically the i845d

Indeed... well, I think that one way to help get prices back down is this:

If you will not DIE from waiting until prices drop to buy your ram, then dont buy it..... ( and I dont mean idirectly like you will lose your job and starve, I mean that you will actually be struck dead from not buying it)

If we force our demand down, prices will drop too....

micron is trying to buy hynix, but that shouldn't do much to the supply of ddr drams. what is affecting the price is the futures on it, which went higher because of the p4's newfound love affair with DDR.

Memory is still selling below manufacturing costs. On the spot market 128bit DRAM chips are at about $1.60. Break even is about three bucks.
