With the ever-falling American dollar and unemployment at an elevated level, we'll solve our problems by thinning out our population :awe:

btw : we're parents of one and plan on having no more...with the exception of a possible adoption (if that counts as having another kid)

our birth rate is fine. don't be so daft.

I'm sorry there aren't as many Christian soldiers as you had hoped.

anyway, we've gone from a primarily agrarian economy to a financial one. Pious little salve laborers aren't as much of a necessity as they used to be.

I have 4, and yes it's a drain financially.

You have family or wife does not work for child care?

I ask as I have a 1 1/2 year old boy and my mother in law watchs him. She lives us but we get along just fine.
My wife wanted to give her a break and I think it was between $60-75 a DAY for a kid under 2 years old. So over 12k a year just for that alone. Needless to say he will be staying with my MiL till he turns 2 and even then we will probable on;y do part time. Mostly just to allow him to interact with kids and not be around adults all day long.

Oh and the more education someone has the less children they have seems to be the norm.

Assuming your wife is educated, you come out ahead with her working. We pay $200/wk for two infants. My wife brings in $642/wk. We would be giving up that remaining $442 if she stayed home.

My wife is educated, so yeah she brings home a fair amt. However, you have to take into account geography. 200/wk for two infants would never happen at any reputable place where we live. Most folks we know are paying about 800/mo for the first child, with a discount for the 2nd. still going to be closer to 1200/mo.

We don't have kids yet, but it's her decision with what she wants to do about working. I'd prefer if she stayed home b/c that's how I grew up, but it's her call. I can totally understand the point many make - working and having kids can be a lot of stress, especially on women. I'm all for equality and whatever, but I haven't talked to one mother yet who's said it was easy to put her kids in daycare. It just introduced another level of stress.
