Stop me if I'm wrong here, but one of HTC's execs sits on Qualcomm's board, or one of Qualcomm's execs sits on HTC's board. Or they're part owners of each other. Something along those lines.
Qualcomm made a "minor" equity investment in HTC June 2001.

What the Asus Transformer Prime is for tablets(1st quadcore, Tegra3), the HTC Edge will be for phones(1st quadcore, Tegra3)?
If this rumor mill is to be believed at least.

Controversies

From 1999 to 2002, Samsung conspired with Hynix Semiconductor, Infineon Technologies, Elpida Memory (Hitachi and NEC) and Micron Technology to fix the prices of DRAM chips sold to American computer makers. In 2005 Samsung agreed to plead guilty and to pay a $300 million fine, the second-largest criminal antitrust fine in US history.[14][15][16][17]
In May 2010 the EU antitrust watchdog levied a €145.73 million fine against Samsung for the same DRAM cartel.[99]
In December 2010 the European Commission fined six LCD panel producers including Samsung a total of €648.925 million for operating a cartel. Samsung received a full reduction of the potential fine for being the first firm to cooperate with the EU anti-trust authorities.[100]
In April 2011 Apple Inc. announced that they were suing Samsung over the design of their Galaxy range of mobile phones. The lawsuit was filed on 15 April 2011 and alleges that Samsung violated Apple's trademarks and patents and "slavishly" copied the iPhone and iPad.[101] Of the lawsuit, Apple said "This kind of blatant copying is wrong." Samsung issued a statement saying "Samsung's development of core technologies and strengthening our intellectual property portfolio are keys to our continued success" before announcing that they would contest the allegations.[101] A few days later, Samsung issued a counterclaim against Apple claiming patent infringement.[11] In August 2011, at The Regional Court of Düsseldorf, Apple were granted a preliminary injunction against the sale and marketing of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 across the whole of Europe excluding the Netherlands.[102] The ban has been temporarily lifted in the European Union, with the exclusion of Germany, whilst it is investigated whether or not the original injunction was appropriate.[103]
As part of the ongoing conflict between Samsung and Apple Inc., Samsung filed a claim with the Federal Court of Australia on September 16, 2011, accusing Apple of patent infringement by Apple’s iPhone and iPad on seven patents.[101]

Don;t get me wrong, I'm not saying Samsung makes bad products, it's the opposite, they make some damn good stuff, they are highly profitable and spread the money around. They have the unofficial protection of the Korean gvt, and get away with a lot a US corporation would be in deep shit over...

So which is more criminal?

Apple or Samsung?
Ha! I knew someone would ask that question.

Maybe you should create a topic and do a poll on that? :whiste:
Knowing pm, he'd lock it immediately because I expect such a topic to turn into a flame fest. :p

Well off the record.. Which corporation do you think is more criminal based on your opinion?

I don't anticipate ICS coming to the Rezound anytime soon due to Sense bloat.
If anything, it will probably come to Galaxy devices first since Samsung has 1st hand experience in developing ICS for the Galaxy Nexus.

on bell for Canada the sensation is slated to get ics in Feb and the sgs 2 was later so it might not be hugely different

They haven't had a landmark product since the Evo. They were unable to offer features that can compete with Samsung and they failed to nail their design language. They could recovery nicely with their summer lineup.

I just can't bring myself using another HTC phones. I hear all the time and praise about HTC quality and is mostly from younger crowd who don't know what quality means or have never used something that is truly handmade with attention paid to the last detail.
I could find flaws on any of the HTC phones and even brand new ones.. Creak, Dust, Bad fitting and the list goes on. Their speakers are the worse in the industry. The only thing that was holding them was the developing community which now happens to own samsung handsets.

The thing is.. they do have decent build quality. However, they always cheap out somewhere. The phone itself might be good, but the back is this awful plastic that has creaks everywhere and just feels like it will break: Incredible 1 and 2 both show this. They also just rehash the same design over and over.

Also... Are they ever going to figure out how to optimize their shit to have good battery life? Seriously! I've have 2 HTC phones in the past year that sucked the battery completely dry. The Incredible sucked so bad in that sense. You literally needed to root it and install a custom kernel/ROM immediately to get any kind of life out of that phone. I sold that puppy in a month and got the Droid X immediately and had 1.5-2 days of battery life on that guy.

I've never had a phone suck so bad with battery. It feels like HTC rushes out their phones and then creates a new extremely similar phone with a little different feature and rushes that out. They don't take time to actually optimize their shit. They just toss in an extremely powerful processor and just leave it be. They don't try and work out power management or anything. Then they toss on Sense, and say here's a new phone for you!

Correct me if I'm wrong about the battery life, but that's how it used to be with nearly EVERY HTC phone. I'm not sure about new ones, but I'm definitely never going to touch an HTC phone again unless it's a Nexus. That's all there is to it.

I was never happy with any HTC Android phone to be honest. Besides the obvious issues with Sense, their phones seem to be notorious battery hogs, and they all look very similar to me.
Hi Red Storm
See I agree that htc mobiles have not have very good battery backup but HTC will launched its sizzling mobile soon which is HTC Radar it will be amazing phone with some awesome features its based on Windows OS.

well, last year i had the desire and i thought it was a great phone. this time round it was a choice between samsung (gs2) and HTC (sensation i think?). compared a to b but HTCs locked bootloader meant it was not even considered past that point.

hopefully next year they won't be locking their phones anymore

I own an Evo. I will not be buying another HTC phone because of 1) battery life issues, 2) weight/dimensions, and 3) call quality. The Evo is a heavy beast and recent HTC phones don't seem to have done anything to improve upon this.

Leaks of the Sensation ICS build from HTC are on XDA as well as ROMs with sense pulled out of it. Honestly, Sense blows.

What's the problem with locked boot loaders? Why is this a big deal? I have a Galaxy S Vibrant that is now my GF's and it is a major PITA to put ROMs on. She was having problems with MIUI so I was going to put ICS on it, but I had to Odin back to stock 2.1, then load a GB boot loader, then flash the ICS ROM.

Unlocking the bootloader on the Sensation is easy. I can take a brand new Sensation, and have a custom ROM on it within 20 minutes. IT took me over an hour tinkering with the Galaxy S.

Thats good you chose to unlock the bootloader and such, hope you never have to make use of their warranty.

Why not?

All I had to do was buy a jig off ebay for my rooted and ROMed Samsung phone and I was able to easily exchange it under warranty when I needed to.

I was referring to HTC, they make you trade in your Warranty for the Bootloader

They stopped innovating. They have rehashed the HD2 - first released in September of 2009 - about 5 dozen times now. Sure, they upgrade the SoC and occasionally the screen resolution, but ultimately, they haven't really pushed the envelope recently.

+1

and add the fact that every phone had a different name. after a while it was impossible to know which phone had what.

the apple/samsung model of one phone per year with the almost same name works because it builds a brand. HTC with their name of the month were basically throw away phones

HTC has just said they're going to allow boot loaders to be unlocked on EVERY device they ship past September 2011.

Also, Samsung is the same. I have the Galaxy Nexus and I unlocked my boot loader. It said doing so might not be covered by your warranty. It explicitly said that so I would acknowledge I'm essentially giving up my warranty for an unlocked boot loader.

It comes down to how they can catch you. Samsungs have a jig that hides what I did. Do HTC devices have a jig?

It doesn't help that HTC has completely saturated the market with countless similar looking phones, with confusing names and no clear flagship product.

HTC needs a strong flagship like the Galaxy phones. Maybe they could turn Rezound into one.
