What happened to BTX?

What's keeping BTX? 3-4 years ago it was the next big thing. I even bought a new PSU that was BTX-ready. And now, nothing has happened... haven't heard anything for a long time.

Well, since Intel are gonna put out cooler cpu's theres no real need for it yet. Im sure itll come eventually, but for now ATX suffices. Many cases come with both ATX and BTX compatibility anyways.

Most of the OEM's such as Dell etc., are using it for their Intel systems. The issue with BTX, however, is that it is essentially an Intel technology servicing an exclusively Intel (at this time) need, (because their cpu's run so hot) and AMD doesn't see any reason to help out Intel by adopting it at this time. There's nothing wrong with it per se, and it may eventually be adopted universally...but not for awhile...at least in the DIY market that AMD specializes in.

Just another brilliant idea from Intel that didn't go anywhere. Cooling device advances can more than keep up with CPU heat output w/o making major changes in system layout.

Yes. The XPS 200 however is very small, a bit larger in size than a large laptop. (Maybe I'll take some pics)

The XPS 400 is larger than the 5150/E510, and the chasis has more features. It's also a little better built, which is the first thing one would notice when he/she takes the side of the case off.

BTX makes a lot of sense, although moreso for GPUs these days producing more heat than CPUs. Ofcourse SLI/Xfire goes and defeats that advantage, having a GPU not being able to vent as well as the other...
