World-wide hops shortage. as for PBR, I don't know. But Budweiser uses rice in their malt anyway, those cheap bastards.

Hops shortage.

Barley shortage. Commercial garbage like PBR and Bud Light use so little hops that they can absorb price spikes without it impacting the price of the beer to any measurable degree. The hops shortage in general and the dramatic shortage in aroma hop varieties in particular is hurting the microbrew and craft brew makers much more so than the big commercial breweries. But everyone is getting hurt by barley prices.

PBR is shit. It all brewed by Miller. It only got popular this decade due to college kids wanting cheap beer.

schlitz is worse.

The Schlitz brand is now owned by Pabst and is brewed for Pabst by Miller.

I'd be stunned if any of the idiots spouting that "PBR is shit" or "Schlitz is worse" or "Bud Light kicks Miller Lite's ass" could manage to tell any of them apart in blindfolded testing. They're all made to pretty similar recipes and are all pretty much flavorless. If you can choke down any one brand you can choke down all the other brands equally well.

I can totally taste the difference between Pabst/OldStyle/Bud/Schlitz. None of them are great, of course, but I prefer Pabst above the others. Yeungling is tits, though.

It's not for nothing that I have an original Pabst tap from my Great-grandfather's pharmacy, which was the first pharmacy in Raleigh. :p

Dude dispensed Pabst

Just bought a 12 of PBR at my local supermarket for $6.49. Cheap non-light beer ftw.

Oh and even better, last week I went 'upstate' (technically Westchester County area) and they had cases of 30 PBR's for $16 even. That was a fun night

Nice. I buy PBR when drinking with other people who like to mooch. They won't drink it, and it tastes better than other crappy beers. I like specials on Sam Adams too.

Woah, wait a second there. Bud Light is like $15 for a 24 here. PBR cans are about $6/12. PBR is still cheaper, but how the hell am I paying that much more for beer? :)

Also, PBR is to be avoided at all costs for me. I think if I sniff it a little, I get an instant hangover. I think its because the beer knows I'm not a welder or a sheet metal worker. Can't dispute the blue ribbon, though.

I had 3 Hurricane pounders tonight. Have to warm up a little for homecoming tomorrow.

I would say that I'm a cheap beer connoisseur (irony?). I can definitely tell the difference between various cheap beers, including the malt liquor variants.

I'm not asserting this as 100% fact, but for my taste, the absolute bottom of the barrel is Miller Lite in the light beer category. I like Bud Light the best. For malt liquors a bit warmer than the "just out of the freezer" stage, very little is worse than Camo. Country Club, Colt 45 or OE800 are the best, imho.
