What Happend To Real R&B

Music won't ever sound the same, it has to change. If you were born in a certain time period in most cases you will stick with the music of that era, which is why I still listen to most 90s hip hop and rock, and I don't favor *most* new age stuff.. though the same could be said about people who were born before me, in that they favored the 80s, 70s, and this goes on and on 😉

Not to say that I don't like some 80s and pre, but the sound I favor most would be 90s which I was born with, I love some of the 80s artists.

Where is Sade or Rkelly at?

🙁

Music period sucks, but there's still quality R&B coming out, you just have to look hard and ignore what you hear on the radio. Chante Moore put out an album last year that's really good and has no bubble gum pop shit on it. Kenny Lattermore is putting out an album soon, which should be real nice. En Vogue is back together and making a come back album. I don't know anything more than that. But I hope they stick to what made them big in the first place and don't jump on the pop ban wagon. And I've heard Alicia Keys is in the studio, chances are it will be good. She has a couple iffy songs here and there, but her albums as a whole have had a lot of classic soul feel to them.

Rkelly and Sade aren't real R&B. Real R&B is still alive in blues clubs and jazz clubs in certain cities, but R&B you hear on the radio is bullshit and has been for decades.

Sade isn't real R&B? lol. If you're hearing R&B at a jazz club, you're going to the wrong ones. There's still authentic R&B, Robin Thickes latest album is a perfect example. Good ballads, great arrangements, with hints of rock and funk. I don't know how you can say Sade isn't R&B though, she's nothing like Curtis Mayfield, but both are definitely R&B.

This is a fact. Everyone has their vision of R&B. I love the 60s and 70s Motown, 70s and 80s Philly sound, and some of the later stuff like Sade.

If I ever want to hear classic R&B, I listen to WMNFs Soul Party show. You can hear it in archived form on the WMNF website.

I wasn't aware that R. Kelly was filed under Rhythm & Blues... I thought he was filed under Shit.

R&B in this case stands for Rhythm & Bullsh!t
