According to everything no one has any interest in bringing them back on the air.

WNEW is a mess at this point. Only Ron and Fez are keeping them afloat. Tom Lycus sucks hard.. about 1 min of show to every 5 mins of commercials, and in the mornings everyone listens to Stern.

They keep talking about switching to music but who knows.

I imagine they are pumping gas somewhere. They will be a tough hire for the next couple of years, as radio station GMs are not going to want the flak that would come with hiring them.

I imagine you are an idiot. :p They had recently signed a $30 million dollar contract before being fired that they still are entitled to.

They'll be back. O&A always win in the end. :)

Phoenix, head over to http://www.opieanthony.net, start hanging out in their IRC channel and you can get lots of past shows and bits (I imagine you haven't heard them all). I have every episode from June until their last show in August.

That is a shame. I now read that they were never in fact fired, but that their show was canceled, leaving them to collect their maddeningly generous paychecks. At the time of the incident, I was in the midst of my brief effort to get to know O & A, and so I had listened for a total of three hours or so - I never laughed once. I am a loyal Stern fan, but to me O & A's antics were outrageous but not at all funny.

Fair enough - to each his own, I guess. I hope they get rehired again so you can enjoy them, because you are obviously a true fan. That said, there would definitely be no O & A without Stern having paved the way for them.

Howard Stern is mildly entertaining, but he's not very funny IMO. And Arty Lang gets irritating by repeating the same joke over & over & over again. And I can't stand how everyone in the studio with Stern is a "yes man" who agrees with every single solitary opinion Stern has.

Don_Vito: When you listened to O&A, was Jim Norton in studio? Did Anthony go into a rant or do any of his impressions? Did Opie do something cruel to a caller or guest? If not you haven't really experienced what its all about.

You might have just caught them on a slow day, because I think it is the funny show ever (not just in radio).

See if you can find and download the Robert Clary interview (the guy from hogan's heroes). It is the only thing that has ever made me come close to literally wetting myself with laughter.

Miss O&A alot too... man why don't they go into Satellite radio. Wont that market want them. I'd pop $200 for a receiver and 10 bucks a month subscription. Its worth it. I love the WoW sticker on my car. I heard Anthony is just playing games all night and sleeping all day... Kinda like what i do... except I try to get laid too. He hasnt been trying too hard

LOL man they almost make drive off the Verrazanno bridge when I was listening to the Hogan Heroes charactor... F'N HILARIOUS!!!

lil' Jim was in the studio.
Anthony would be eating a sandwich from the brooklyn diner, and opie (gregg) would be pissing off stinky and producer ben.

Man no Homeless shopping spree this year :(

I watch Howard Stern's show on E! sometimes. It's mildly amusing.

I can't even imagine how awful it would be just to listen to his show on the radio. Who wants to hear a middle aged pervert talk? His show amusing to watch because of the crazy stuff he does in the studio, and the strippers that come in.

The thing is, the stuff that ends up on TV is often the least clever material from the show as a whole. The stripper bits are telegenic but not always interesting or funny - the off-the-cuff banter is frequently the best part of the show. There are notable exceptions, especially the games (e.g., the recent "It's Just Wrong" game, the "Who Wants to Be a Turkish Millionaire?" bit from a few years ago, or the recurring Homeless Game) and some of the celebrity interviews, but for the most part I don't even watch the show in spite of being a rabid fan.
