He studied his ass off and passed and then it was summer. Shouldn't bart be in the 5th grade now?

If realism was added to cartoons Tom and Jerry would have died from old age long ago. The basics of a comedy show stay the same most of the time, and will only be altered if it's needed for new jokes. Just like almost all series in fact. Friends wouldn't be fun if they grew apart, got real (boring) lifes and just say there browsing ATOT while being filmed.

hero never dies, villans never get killed, character never ages, everything is politically correct, and Bart will always be in the same grade.

the only one exception i know of is South Park, where the third or forth season is named something like "Fourth Grade Years"

well 4th
todays episode he was almost held back but ended up moving on so he would be inthe 5th but he moved up back to the 4th rofl so i guess you could say he was held back? HAHAHAHA
