What GPU should I buy ?

So at around Christmas time I should have around 250 euro. Keep in mind that it's euro because I live in Ireland. But I want a GPU that i can play game on High Settings and get 60+ fps in most cases. I will be playing games like Call Of Duty, Assasins Creed, GTA5 etc. I was thinking of buying the R9 280x on amazon but I know that AMD has gotten rid of them and replaced them with the 380 and such. So should I get that or is there a better alternative ? Please don't tell me to wait until I have the money and get a GTX 970.

For 295€ shipped: EVGA GTX 970 SC (b-stock "refurb", 1 year warranty)

If you have to get down to 250€ or less... well you should be able to find an R9 380 4GB (which performs better than GTX 960) at around that price. Or you can browse for used cards, hopefully an R9 290 or a GTX 780 could be found for 250€ used.

I love you, I had no idea EVGA sold B-Stock items

What CPU do you have ?

Let us know or suggesting a GPU is pointless if we dont know your specs,, fill in sig so we can help you better...

I also recommend that

I would recommend the 290x over the 970. Again, check for good used 290/x's

Whats B stock, cant be as good as the A stock. Unless Z stock is the best you can get.

Refurbished units. A blemish, damaged box, anything can make it a refurb unit. It's worth the discount. Unless you're looking for a maximum OC, I'd get a Bstock unit.

Used R9 290 is the best bang for your buck.

New R9 390 is the best bang for your buck New (And honestly, seeing the sales out now, I'd get an R9 390. In fact, I'd sell you my R9 290 now and get an R9 390 myself after seeing how fast they're dropping in price. If I had known they would drop this fast I would have just sucked it up and waited.)

Gtx 970 Bstock if you like Nvidia or care about the environment a LOT and NEED low power consumption. Or if you like the Nvidia ecosystem with GFE which is pretty nice (Shadowplay, Recommended game settings, etc.)

I have a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X.

Where in Ireland are you? I live in dublin. I've just had second son and have no time to game so I'm thinking of selling my evga 780ti superclocked with acx cooler, still has 8 years warranty on it...

German amazon has right now a warehouse deal for Palit GTX970 for 266€. Unfortunately 16 eur over your budget 😉

The real issue for the OP is that he is not buying until around Christmas, so current deals are not available to him. That said, the prices being mentioned here should give you a good idea of what to look for in the Christmas timeframe.

ATI is solid hardware. But the CCC and drivers blow goat. Which is why I will never go to big red. Ill stick with what doesnt give me problems.. nvidia to be exact on that. gl

Its cool to look and get familiar with what is out right now but honestly things can change a lot in 2 months.

You need to ask this question when you have the money in hand and are ready to buy.
