<< Tequila - Patron Silver. Expensive but one of my favorite sipping/shooting tequilas. You must also get lime and salt.
Vodka - Stolichnaya. Keep a bottle in the freezer. Makes yummy martinis.
Southern Comfort. Great as a shot w/ lime, or with OJ / Pineapple juice. Tons of uses for mixed drinks. Goes down smoooooooth.
Seagram's 7 - Bourbon, used in 7&7's (Seagrams & 7-up). One of my fav drinks.
Malibu Rum - No bar is complete without it. Infinite uses. Great with coke, any juice, or any tropical drink. Can also use Capt. Morgan's Parrot Bay Rum instead.
Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum, Great with coke or by itself.
>>

This is a good start to any bar

I would also add:
Bombay Saphire - gin.. good for Gin and Tonic, Gin and Cramberry... Gin and....
Amaretto- mmm.. amaretto sours... Sicilian Kiss shots..
Skyy Vodka- I think its cheaper than Stolichnaya... but also really good.
Peach Schnopps- can't remember the brand.. but get a bottle of this.

these are good for mix drinks... now shots... thats a different story

Aftershock
Avalanche
Goldshlogger (can't spell)
Heigermister (can't spell)
Pucker (about 10 different flavors)

if you want to try something "different" - try a sweet or desert liquor

japanese plum wine (excellent aperatif) - women like it
Midori Melon wine - same as above

Mount Gay Rum (I'm not kidding!)
Gledfiddich

can't go wrong

(personally, i prefer wine and champagnes)

Single malt scotch only.
My favorites:

Glenlivet
Glenrothes
Balvenie
Dalwhinnie
Macallan

Last and best (if you can handle it):
Laphroaig

<< Everclear. Nuff said. >>

I'm using a fifth of Everclear for our juice tonight. It's going to be awesome. 10 gallons of juice made of 1/5 Everclear, Handle of Vodka, Kool Aid, Red Soda, and Red Gatorade.

<< Here are a few:

AfterShock: Cinnammon schnapps that has the ratio: more crystals, more proof :D (Once you see the bottle, you will understand)
Grappa: Doesn't taste all that great but high in alcohol content
Drambui: A liqueor, poured in a shot glass and sipped (unless you like to have your throat stripped out :D)

And there is always Johnny Walker Black Label
>>

Black Label is the answer...it almost makes up for you mentioning AfterShock :Q

Absinthe is illegal in the US... however Absente is not ;) (same stuff, but with southwood instead of wormwood)

Bacardi 151 is killer. Try doing shots of that and you'll love me.... gotta love it when a liquor comes with a flame retardant cover.

Everclear.

<< "Jägermeister ("hunt master") is a German bitter liqueur that is a complex blend of 56 herbs, fruits and spices." Yum!

<<

I find it very amusing you were the one to post this Klee...

But that was going to be my reccomendation as well. Jagermeister straight from the bottle is the way to go!

What's this Absinthe stuff anyway? Someone mentioned it's "psychotropic properties," and if that means what i think it does, i definitely wanna give it a try.

It's made with wormwood. It makes you nuts. It worked for Hemmingway!
Anyway, because of it's poisonous (and psychotropic) qualities, it's banned in much of the world. If you find it in a store in America, it will be Absente, which, being absent wormwood (hence the name absente) lacks those qualities.

I would recommend the Macallan 12 year old as far as the single-malts go. It's pretty hard to argue with.

I would also recommend trying some Absente/Absinthe at a bar or something before you go and buy any. It is very high in alcohol and is has the strongest anise (black liquorice) flavor I've ever encountered. It's interesting...but not for everyone.

<< You gotta mix it with sugar and water...
(absinthe)

I know...it was prepared properly when I had it....it's still freaking liquid fire tho. I have no problem sipping of 40-45 proof bourbon, but this stuff was ridiculous.

You can order the real absinthe from Spain, BTW. It arrives labeled "spice oils"....spendy, but the only way you can get the real stuff.

that is exactly what i was thinking. 98% of what has been listed in here is cheap college crap. he said GOOD hard liquor. now, Macallan 1983 is amazing single malt scotch whiskey. that is my favorite
>>

Hehe, I didn't bother listing scotches as most people try them once and then look at you like you're nuts for thinking it tastes good. Anyway, a few of my favorites (I tend to lean toward the peatier ones for the most part).

Glenrothes- a friend of mine gave me a bottle of the 1983 single barrel...amazing stuff)
Bowmore- they're all pretty good, but the 17 year-old is amazing..some of the Cadenhead versions of this are well worth the money as well.
Macallan- What can I say, some of the best sherry-cask whisky ever.
Laphroaig- I wouldn't recommend the 10 year-old...unless you need to strip some paint off any window sills or something...it's pretty ferocious. Funny quote from a whisky web site "The 15-year-old (43 vol.) is another matter. It's the gentrified older brother of the 10-year-old feral child. " That about sums it up...get the 15.
Glenmorangie- really interesting, complex whisky...I'm particularly a fan of the port-wood bottlings.
Talisker- super-spicy, peppery stuff....another one not everyone will like.
Glenfarclas- not quite as refined as Macallan, but lots of sherry flavor..older bottlings are particularly good (my wife brought me a 20 year-old back from the distillery that I guarded like gold).
