What good games have come out recently?

Yes, I know HL2 and MOH: PA will be out soon. I am getting those.

DOOM3... graphics look great, plot and depth don't look good... skipping this one. I've heard Sims2 is cool, but it's not my thing.

I need a game with a plot/storyline I can get into.🙂

Is it good. I played MOH when it came out a long time ago. All FPS games are turning into the same thing now. They're basically Quake I with new graphics.

RPG's are cool, but I don't have time to get into something real deep like a mmorpg.

I got a gf, and have barely played any games in over a year.:frown:

Playing older games recently: Jagged Alliance 2 (best turn based game out in the last x years where x is the number of years since XCOM), Baldur's Gate 2 (best party based RPG ever), and Warcraft 3: Defense of the Ancients (custom map).

If you're only looking for newer games, i'd say you're right on Doom3. Wait til it gets <$30 though.
 
Malladine, I think my problem is that I am becoming quite picky. I've been playing PC games since 92 or so. I've seen everything and played everything. Pretty much all of the new games coming out are old games with a new face.

I would seriously pay $200 right now for Fallout 3.

Thief Series is DIFFERENT! Deep - like a rpg, BUT really a FPS(sneaker) where you don't have to sneak. 😉

The STORY is what draws you in; One level - Shalebridge Cradle - REdefines "horror" . . . . plus the gfx are good.

You might also consider DeuSex II (the original is better but the gfx are outdated). 😉

I tried playing it, but it kept crashing on the second or third level.

 
Try the UT2k4 mod Red Orchestra if you're serious about realistic FPS.

Rome: Total War and Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War are far and away the best RTS since Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne <EDIT: i take that back, Rise of Nations is up there>

Look into Star Wars, Knights Of the Old Republic. It's an RPG-type game. I found it abit different from anything I've played. Good story line too.

you absolutely NEED the patch for DEII . . . . it runs like crap w/o it (and still need a nice system to play it) . . . . but Thief III is the best of the Thief series (imo) . . . runs good, looks GREAT, plays AWESOME!
(there might be a demo)
 
I was in the Warhammer 40k beta and i tried the demo but i never really got into it that much. Some good games that came out or are coming out Rome Total War (awesome game), World of Warcraft, and of course half-life 2. Those are the ones im looking at.
