Hi,

I am looking to buy a Graphic card for around £250 (even better if less). My aim is to play modern games such as BF4 on High / Ultra with good FPS. I have been looking at some GPU's such as the GTX 770 and the r9 280x and the problem is that nvidia is optimized for Assassins Creed games (which I play) and AMD is optimized for BF4 (which I also play!). So please could you suggest me a good GPU which performs good on any modern game.

Thanks :)

You really can't go wrong with either GPU, what resolution do you play at and what does the rest of your system look like?

Surprisingly, there isn't much difference between R9 280X/770 and R9 290 in the UK. I am seeing the average price of 280X/770 at 250-275 quid but you can find R9 290 for 311 quid.

Since BF4's fps are more important for competitive play vs. AC4, I'd lean towards getting a card that runs faster in that game. Also, I don't like the idea of spending 250 quid for a 2GB card.

I would wait for after-market R9 290 and for you to save up a bit more and get that.

If you cannot wait, 770 and R9 280X are a toss-up, depending on the game.
