Thanks

if you want to get more specific than electronic, you could describe it as 'big beat' (a fusion of rock and dance music). see also the chemical brothers.

Moby's stuff is not house. :|

Nor does he have anywhere CLOSE to the hardest techno out there... Go get some happy hardcore like Neophyte, or even some Goa and Psy like Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Astrix, DJ Scot Project and the likes...

I'm no expert, and certainly most of moby's work is *not* house, but I'm pretty sure the above would qualify... awaiting your verdict. :)

Techno or Electronica
People who aren't "into the scene" have no use for all the bajillion denominations (goa, trance, hardcore, house, blah blah blah)
Just like people who aren't into punk don't know/care that they've got a whole slew of subgenres. Same with metal, etc...

Scot Project and Astrix is not Psy-trance or Goa, its Hard trance. Your right on the others being psy though. Nore should you classify Happy Hardcore, Trance, or psy-trance as Techno. Techno is its own sound, and sounds nothing like these other genre's you've mentioned.

AS to the OP.

Fatboy Slim is a DJ and a producer. When he DJs, he plays a lot of trance, and a lot of house too. Just depends on his mood. His productions, lately would be classified as Pop, previously could have been classified as breakbeat. Moby kind of has his own genre. Back in the days of Go, and its remixes, it was most definetely Trance, nowandays its more mellow ambiant sounds coupled with a bit of everything. Once again, his productions are classified on a Track by Track basis. They don't all fit in one specific EDM (electronic dance music) sub-genre.
