What generation is parenting these teenagers today?

This thread is more of a complaint about dressing behavior of kits today. It seems like every teenage kid out there is dress like some goth with neon pink accents and or guys with 1970s haircuts. A few more I can think of:

-Guys wearing girl's pants.
-Dark hair some with white accents.
-Skateboard clothes.
-I saw a kid the other night with....get this, a neon green belt. wtf?

I'm only 25 and when I was in high school no one dressed like this nor had the stupid 70s haircuts.

My parents generation were the babyboomers, what generation is parenting these kids who dress like this? Is the people born in the late 60s?

I feel old complaining about teenagers, but they dress like buffoons.

the older segment of gen x and maybe the younger segment of the boomers. the dividing line between the two is 1961.

What fucking high school did you go to? O_O Some religious one? Probably, from the looks of it.

I'm sure 25 year olds said the same thing about you when you were 15.

But emos annoy me, I must admit. I have to say the urge to punch them in the face does become overpowering at times.

The parents born in the early 50s, early babyboomers.

At my high school, the only cliche form of dress was preppy clothing like Abercrome and Fitch and AE, which was just starting to become popular at that time. My school was located in a very wealthy but mostly urban Democrat area, so maybe I wasn't exposed to the suburban teenager dress code at the time.

WTF? Teenagers with fucked-up fashion senses? ALERT THE MEDIA!

Now excuse me, I gotta go tight roll my pants and spike my hair on one side..

I could say the same for EVERY generation. The 50's, 60's, wtf was 80's and 90's about? You should come to NYC or go to L.A. if you want to see just how far people take personal style. Personally, I love most unique and quirky looks (I hate the mass produced identities).

Just chill man, I'm betting there's more than enough people on this board where they'd say the same about you, too.

That would probably be it. :-/ Go to a normal public school, without wealth.

I'm sure many did, but I was in a generation of generation Y that did very little that was overly outlandish or cliche. (late 90s early 2000s teenagers). But I could be wrong, this is just my experience.

Kids today are emo'd up, while the early 90s kids were all dress like with the flannel like a Kurt Cobain concert.

I'm not trying to put you on the spot or make fun of you, but kids in my day would never use a user name with "boy" on the end, and I see this a lot with your generation. THere are many bands who do this to "Fallout Boy" etc.

When I think of a "boy" I think of some kid like 8 years old flying his kite. Sorry.

I dunno man. I was 16 in 95/96 and at that stage I wore a backwards cap, baggy pants/clothes, and probably looked like a total dick to people older than me.

I admit, there were a lot of kids in our generation who wore the very wide pants (like a fan of the band ICP). But those were mostly narrowed down to a small group of troublemakers.

Wasn;t neon shit all the rage in the 80's? The photos of all the boy bands back then seems to suggest it.

The 80's are making a comeback!

Considering this username is 9 years old... and Fallout Boy didn't exist then (Probably?), I don't see the relevance.

I also try not to have usernames that involve my name. :-/ You know, since maybe someday I might get a job or don't want family knowing everything about me.

Ditto. To say that people who grew up as teenagers in the mid- to late-90's and early 2000's did nothing outlandish or cliche would be fairly incorrect. Anyone remember JNCOs? How about the disgustingly-popular Tommy Hilfiger overalls? "Schoolgirl" outfits (plaid skirts with white knee socks)?

I'd definitely say we dressed fairly embarrassingly. It's part of growing up.

I agree, the 80s kids were a wild bunch, in fashion terms. Especially the early 80s.
