I guess being born in 73 makes me a Gen X'er. Man, I feel old now. Oh, and to the kid who said something along the lines of "i'm 16, how is it that i'm in the same generation as a 7 year old", you are obviously very young if you think that a measly 8 or 9 years is a huge age difference as far as generations go. What do you think, generations last 3 years or until you no longer can hang with your fellow generations kids. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. A generation is about 20 years long, so as you can see, generations are meaningless propaganda aimed at selling things to certain age groups, it's not a name given so you can associate yourself with other similarly aged people and reminise over your fallen generation.

Generation designations are just another way to divide the population into adversarial groups that are more easily controlled and manipulated by the existing power structure.

Example: Gen Xers have been taught to hate the Baby Boomers because, under our Social Security system, they are going to be paying a larger and larger portion of their incomes to support the Boomers in their retirement years. Whether they will actually be saddled with an increasing debt is up for speculation and not really important. What is important is that the power structure has divided the people into smaller groups that are more easily managed.

Didn't "X" stand for something? If so then am I the only one who feels shafted with the label "Generation Y"? Like we're just "the next thing".

I do believe our generation name should have something to do with computers, because any earlier generation can't compare to ours when it comes to knowing all about the RAM and ROM.
