what games to get for xmass

want to get myself some game for xmass.
what's good these days?
I like 3-D shooter games and RPGs.
I play CounterStrike and D2 everyday.
I do have UT and Q3 but never play hm, find them very boring.
I'm looking for 3-D game with more than just shoot and shoot , suck boring. it has to be multiplayable over like gamespy.
I'm thinking maybe NOLF and Deus Ex(now with multiplay).
When i saw Gunman Chronicles, i thought OMG, i loved half life, it this must be good then i read some bad reviews....
Anything else?
give me some suggestions

as you mentioned, NOLF is a good game. That would be a good one to get.
Also, I just read the Mechwarrior 4 review on firingsquad, and it looks pretty good.
And then there is the addon to Q3, Q3: team arena.

But all the BIG games, like TF2, Duke Nukem, Unreal2, etc. aren't out yet. So all you can do is drool. 🙁
 
I agree to what frover suggested. Rune was a freakin blast to play, and since u said u liked half life, you'll like how this requires a little brain power to figure some of the puzzels out, other than just shoot em up.
 
Check out the demo for sacrafice, I can't wait to get this game but I know it has already been brought as a present so I need to wait for the holidays. The other game I am looking at is Cataclysm, the sequel to homeworld.
 
Dont forget about American McGee's Alice and MDK2 if you havent played it yet.
Alice is probably one of the best games i've ever played, mdk2 is up there too 🙂
