What games can this run 1024x768?

Ok i am giving my sister some part for her computer for christmas.

a64 3000+
9800Pro
512MB DDR3200


What games (of today) do you think this system will be able to run? she has a 17" monitor so 1024x768 will be fine. She said something to me about Call of Duty 2, don't play too many games these days so what you guys think?

Also what driver should be used witht eh 9800Pro, i hear the 4.9 are the best for that card but is it really?

Good luck playing COD2 even with everything on low with that rig. Bf2 should play find on medium settings.

i have a 9800pro and a p4 3.0. on most games today 800x600 or 1024x768 works. on older games you can crank up the resolution. i play cod2 at 800x600 with the settings turned up so it still looks decent.

It's just going to be a question of features vs resolution. Almost anything will run at 1024x768 on a 9800 pro just at lower detail settings in some cases. The latest FPS games are not going to run with every option maxed out at 1024x768, but you won't have to turn everything off either. If your sister is like most girls and prefers games that don't exclusively involve shooting you should do fine with any rpg or strategy game that I know of (AoE3 might need to be dialed down a little).

It will play most games at 1024 no problem, but FEAR and COD2 are more stressful, so you might either play at low settings, DX7 mode, or a lower resolution.

LOL my sister loves FPS, she was hooked after return of castle wolfenstein. She hates RPGs. She likes the AOE series... she likes all the games i do but i like RPGs too lol.

But maybe she can hold out till Feb, then i'll give her my 6800NU lol. I have a 7800Gt right now and useing my 6800NU for my HTPC, i plan on getting a x1300pro for my HTPC then.

latest cats should be fine, if you have problems you can roll back to 4.9's or even 4.12's

9800Pro = AGP
6800NU = PCI-e... ?

or is the x1300pro coming out for AGP and that you have a AGP 6800Nu and you'll give her that?

i have 6800NU AGP, i hear the x1300Pro is comming out as AGP.. well i hope at least. If not i'll just get a 6600.

All i need is a low heat, 640x480 game play lol no HDTV here. And the feature set for x1300pro for video in/out is great.

Yup, the gf has a 6600GT + A64 3200+ combo, plays at 1280x1024, 2xAA/16xAF, medium high settings, but in DX7 mode. Completely playable. She hardly notices the difference.

Yeah, I think just FEAR and COD2 will give you problems at 10x7. Everything else should run well.

RTCW should be easily handled by that 9800pro.

more recent games will beat on it though, but turning the res/eye candy down will solve this to an extent. if shes not mad about 1337 HDR+AA+AF HaX0R PWNS j00 graphics. then id say the 9800pro is a worthy card. starting to show its age a little bit, but its still a good card.

my bro plays CS:S and HL2 on a 9500pro....at 10x7 medium details possibly some on high with light aa and af, and it runs pretty well.

she is going to be upgraded from a P3 1Ghz Geforce 3 i am sure she will see a big difference.
