Demon's Souls
Borderlands
Torchlight

Demon's Souls is excellent, and the other two are decent.

I am going to replay Dragon Age soon, after I finish up my pile. I still have to beat Ratchet and Clank, Infamous, God of War Collection, as well as a shitload of games I bought during the Steam sale.

Currently playing Dragon Age and loving it. This isn't my "regular" flavor of game either, but the story is just so well done so far. The amount of dialogue can feel overwhelming at times, and I feel like I need to quicksave before I talk to anyone of importance, but other than that it's a great game.

I'm also playing GTA:IV, Mirror's Edge and CS:S. I have a ton of games that I need to finish though; HL2 Ep2, Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, Far Cry 2, Spore (I'm in the space stage and haven't played in a year!), Company of Heroes (I was LOVING this game until patch came out that nerfed all my saves), Deus Ex and more.

So how does Torchlight compare with Diablo II?

It doesn't really.

It has some modern conveniences, such as a shared stash, comparison windows, and spells of town portal and identify. It also has a decent modding community, and is cheap.

However, it doesn't have nearly as much gear, and the look of all the armor is kind of uninspired. Also, the game is shorter, with much less variety in environments and enemies. The dungeon is also very linear, even moreso than D2.

Then there is the lack of multiplayer, the lack of difficulty transition (there is no nightmare mode to go to after you beat normal), and the low number of classes (3, akin to the original Diablo). There story is also uninspired, and there is an unignorable lack of atmosphere.

Still, for $5, I can't complain. It is a decently fun game worth about a B.

Recently hooked my ps3 controller up to my laptop and have been playing old Sega and SNES games. Finishing up Shining Force, Zelda is next.

This minus the PS3 controller, i bought a real SNES controller converted to USB, 2 of them actually its really fun to play mario cart and bomberman with real SNES controllers.

Just replayed shining force 1 and 2, D&D for Genesis, and am working on the mario games for SNES. on my laptop.

On my desktop im playing Mass Effect, DA:O , Burnout paradise, GTA IV.

just bought Mass Effect for $10 last week for the 360. About 8 hrs into it. Just found Liara and knocked out a bunch of Citadel side quests.

never played an rpg like mass effect. Usually I only played command based ones like Final Fantasy. So when I started, it felt like Gears of War but a lot slower in battle pace.

It tool 3-4 battles to realize what the battle system is and the strategy behind it, so I'm enjoying it a lot more now.

as for the ME universe... It's huge and the amount of detail they put in it definitely sucks you in.

Borderlands, kind of addicting, hard to stop playing. Dragon Age, was doing pretty well until I found Borderlands. Fallout 3, whenever I feel like just playing for a short while. I've had Fallout 3 for a while, found just about everything there is to find. Will have to finish it one of these days, but I don't really want to see the ending.

Race for the Galaxy is what I'm playing the most lately.

I play a few games of that every week. You should also try San Juan, which is the card variant of Puerto Rico.

Lately, I have been on a Pinochle and cribbage binge. Got kind of burned out on Pandemic. Just picked up Axis and Allies, Pacific 1940 so might get into that soon.

Just finished Crysis (well I didn't finish it, I got to the last boss and it was too buggy to continue) and started playing Crysis Warhead. The original story was much better.

Heh it took me dozens of restarts to finish Crysis. The damn mothership thing kept punching a hole in the carrier deck that I couldn't jump out of. Sometimes the VTOL wouldn't land / show up after I blew up the mothership. I thought Warhead was pretty decent, but I was hoping it would continue the game with Nomad going into the sphere.

How many people here are finishing a glut of cheap games purchased off steam's holiday sale?

lol, i used to rock that game daily for like 8 hours straight.

just reinstalled recently as we got our server back up. graphics are definitely dated, but I don't think there's a FPS today that can match its pure fun value.
