So far, I have only been playing Call of Duty way too much but just got this new lcd and am interested in good fps games for widescreen format.

I did not want to shell out $55 for Half Life 2 although I hear it is good.

just about ahny quake III engine game should work. also, most of the major new releases should be able to.

downlaod hl2 demo before making a decision weather to buy it or not.
 
HL2 looks awesome on widescreen. I also have a brand new copy of HL2, CS:Source and HL2 Deathmatch I'd sell you for $35 shipped if you're interested.

Try this website. They have a list of games that are compatible with widescreen.
 
HL2 has excellent support for widescreen. IMO, HL2 was the best $55 I spent on a game this year. Not only was the single player great, but the deathmatch is fun as well.
 
My friend loves HL2 and told me to get it but I have not seen it in person. Did not know there was a demo but will try.

HL2 is awesome in widescreen. Far Cry is also very good. That's about all I've had time (or money) to try.

Eagerly awaiting F.E.A.R. though, it looks to be the FPS of 05.
 
HL2 looks a bit chippy. Maybe I was running it at too high of a resolution for my 9600XT. Doom3 looked great as did Far Cry.
