Civ 2, although given it's gametype I suppose that's not fair. Minecraft, but that's probably not fair either. Of games with a clear beginning and end, it's probably evenish between Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3.

3 is the greatest mario game of all time

you know this

I dunno, I'm pretty fond of the new SMB series, they took what was great about 3 and world and continued with it.
Between SMB 3 and world (4), I think I liked world a little better but that's also when it got a bit more whimsical too.

well i missed a lot of the snes and after playing super mario world on the emulator i think about how it compares with super mario 3

so i agree with you

i also liked 2

never played any of the more recent mario games

super mario galaxy was interesting but i wish they would make a successor to super mario 64 with the game level design of the old mario games and not just a small island where you can fall off

some of the level design in super mario 64 was crazy and way too small

Probably Faster Than Light. Once I get a decent setup I have an easy time with the boss so I actually beat it pretty often. Still haven't unlocked the Crystal Cruiser >.<

Nothing recent, and I don't think I really replayed games that much. But I did finish several of the old Lucasarts games (the Monkey Islands, Indiana Jones, Maniac Mansion etc.) at least two or three times. Also there were some GoldBox AD&D games that I finished more than once with a different type of party.

Recent games in the last decade though I usually went for MMOs or open world stuff so they don't really 'end' per se and even if there's an end to the main story if I did replay it then I'd play it differently, many times without even finishing the main story again.

Yeah, but which did people actually beat over and over? 1 of course because getting through the flying ships in world 8 on SMB3 was a PITA.

That makes sense.

I didnt learn the world hopping trick in SMB 3 until just a couple years ago.

I didn't find the flying ship that hard as a kid... I remember the kupa kid at the end being hard if you didn't kill him quick though.

Mass Effect 1 and 2. Played through both many times. Pre-ordered ME3 CE, played through the whole thing once and that was it. Stupid terrible ending.

And like a few others so far, KOTOR and Dragon Age: Origins are up there. Bioware really made a lot of repayable games over the years.

Yea, those were the days for Bioware (before ME3). I just got the game of the year edition of Dragon Age cheap on Steam a few weeks ago and finished the Awakenings expansion and the Lilleana's Song DLC. Really enjoyed them both. I had already finished the main game, but am thinking about starting over again.

Well, in my defense, by the time SMB3 came out I had discovered girls so I wasn't at the top of my game anymore...my hands were usually already pretty tired. hahah

Diablo II... I sunk hundreds of hours into it, and many many years. I beat it countless times, and Mephisto probaby developed a callus somewhere from the amount of times my faithful Hammerdin bot killed it. Wait.. Maybe its the other way around?

Anyway...

Fallout 3 + All expansions. I loved it to death, replayed it several times over, beating about 90% of all quests and every single expansion.

Same for New Vegas. Countless hours spent....

I know these are not PC games, but I beat Super Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat II, Lion King, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 many times over back on Sega Genesis in the 90's. ; )

The game i have played most from start to end is Stanley Parable- a total of 4 times because to get various endings and game itself is only 20 minutes long !!

I'm another one that never* replays games (except for 'match' games that are to be replayed of course, like strategy games, sports games, etc). Shooters, RPGs, and pretty much anything with a 'story' I play once, uninstall, and move to the next game in queue.

* With a very few exceptions, in my 30 year 'gaming' experience, I think I've replayed two games: Quest for Glory 1 (back then called Hero's Quest) and Lucasart's Gladius.

Warcraft 3 TFT was the most... Over 6000 actual games played not including tons of custom games.
Then I put about 2k hours into Dungeon Defenders.
Now I'm onto my second thousand hours of Path of Exile.

Games are awesome.

Props for knowing it was called Hero's Quest back then, Quest for Glory was just the tagline.

Mario Bros, Double Dragon 3, and Mike tyson's punchout. Nowadays there are too many games and with my huge backlog I struggle to complete a game 1 time.

Do you remember why they changed the name? I assumed it was a trademark issue or something.

I also think Quest for Glory is actually a new name they picked to rename the series since the 2nd one (or maybe the third?). The 'tagline' of the first game is "So you want to be a hero".

I could list a good 100+ games from many platforms which I've completed from start to finish multiple times, but I'll keep the list for PC games specifically. I'm certainly forgetting many of them, but the ones that immediately come to mind are:

- Diablo II / LoD (played it for about seven years, finished it countless times)
- Half-Life (a good 15+ times)
- Half-Life 2 (probably 10+ times)
- Mass Effect (4x full play through)
- Mass Effect 2 (6x full play through)
- Dragon Age: Origins (3x full play through)
- DOOM II (don't know anymore, but easily 10+ times)
- Command & Conquer 2 (Tiberian Sun / Firestorm) (probably around 4 or 5 times)
- FarCry (probably 2 or 3 times)
- C&C Red Alert 2 (both Allied and Soviet campaign, maybe 3 or 4 times each)
- Borderlands 2 (so far 2 times, have a third play through in progress)
- Left 4 Dead (finished the "campaign" many times over the 1+ year of co-op games I've had both on my own offline, and online)
- Warhammer 40K (Dawn of War, Winter Assault, Dark Crusade and Soulstorm) (completed the whole series' respective campaigns around 2 or 3 times each)

I can remember these so far, but I'm forgetting a bunch right now.

Fallout 2: Lots of replay value

Still keep it loaded, patched and ready to play.
