What forum would iOS and Android games go into?

I had some questions about a game for iOS and Android. What forum do you think they should go into? Console gaming? PC gaming? Somewhere else?

Mobile gaming is still gaming. There's still some discussion to be had for some of the deeper mobile games.

Mobile gaming is not worth discussing.

Been playing XCOM Enemy Unknown on my IPad 2 and iPhone 4S and its just like the version I have for Steam. Gameplay is the same. Graphics look good but are a step below what it looks like maxed out on my rig in the sig.

I'd like to see more high profile games ported to mobile for styles that make sense, such as turn based strategy games.

I'd probably put it in Devices and Gadgets. Not a big fan of mobile gaming though. I like the very simple time wasters, but the platform's too limited for decent gaming.

A quality turn based strategy game just seems like a dead market right now. And mobile gaming is largely candy crush players, not heroes of might and magic players.

The one thing about mobile gaming I don't really understand is... who has time for it? Aside from spending some quality time on the toilet, when else are you going to be sitting somewhere without anything important to do and without a real gaming console or computer available? I haven't even touched my MP3 player in 4 years.

I never really got an answer to my question... what forum should I use to post my mobile game topic?

I guess that I'll use Off Topic, since all the cool people are here anyway 🙂

I probably spend more time playing games on my cellphone/tablet than on my PC.

primarily:

-on the train to/from work
-when my boyfriend is watching a tv show I'm not interested in but I still want to cuddle on the couch
-when I'm in bed and need something to help turn my brain off
-when I get to a restaurant 15 minutes early a need to waste some time

and so on.

post in OT and see which forum the mods move your thread to 😛

personally, I'd probably post it in the mobile devices forum.

waiting for the train, sitting on the train, waiting for the airplane, sitting in the airplane, waiting for the ship, sitting in the ship, waiting for the traffic jam to dissolve, distracting yourself if you're too early for an appointment or waiting for someone to arrive.
MP3 player is useful to play music in your car instead of the radio or when you're on public transport, like an airplane.

Oh, so I'm on ignore now, eh? Asshole...

:^P

I think that I like Loki's suggestion the best... I'll try posting it here and see if/where it gets moved to 🙂

Well, that didn't work! The mods locked my thread without moving it 🙂

I must confess, I've spent far more time playing games on my iPad Mini than my desktop rig or my macbook pro. It is just fun and easy. And I'd argue the platform is quite decent for casual gaming. DH4 is really a lot of fun for what it is.

Yeah... to be honest, PC gaming has become a pain in the ass. It seems like almost every new game is released with major bugs that require several patches to fix (like Simcity), or they require several video driver updates before they perform well (Like basically any first person shooter from the past 5 years).

I've already written a rant about this before... it still comes up as one of the top hits when you Google my username 🙂

I always thought it's more appropriate in console gaming, because in this case a portable device is used for gaming, much like the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, etc.

that's exactly it... I can't see using my tablet to play a FPS or MMO, but I love it for casual games (puzzle, tower defense, card/board games)

I always thought that Professor Layton would make an amazing port to a touchscreen (unfortunately, the only one released was kind of a dumb hidden object game)

It's not really a dedicated gaming device though. It's a general purpose computer(despite what the twats at Apple want you to think) with a different form factor.

The OP specifically asked for threads regarding iOS and Android *games*.

I agree that everything else about the devices should be in MDG.
