I'm using Adobe Audition to capture some audio of my buddy playing guitar from a cassette tape and I am going to burn it to cd. What is the best format to save it to before I burn it to get the highest quality?

Evander for the win! Plus as you might know, the rates he's mentioned are the same as for CD format, so there will be no need for resampling when going from the PC to CD.

Agree with Evander for computer use. But, some car CD players don't read .WAV files. I have converted 100s of reel-to-reel and acssette tapes to CD - all went directly from tape to .CDA files. They play anywhere on any CD player.

The question was what format to save this audio to on the computer before burning it to CD, not what format to write it to as a data CD.

16 bit @ 44.1kHz.

Nuff said.
