Please remember to eat vegetables.
They're useless. Vitamins shmitamins. Get your carbs from whole grains.

Hell yeah. Vegetables don't contain nearly as many vitamins as they used to. I grind up daily multivitamins and add it to my sauce when I make stir fry.

Nutritional Data 'Protien' Search

Keep in mind that the body can only absorb so many protiens in a 3 hour period, something around 50-60g, within 3hrs of eating it. In addition, protien in and of itself isn't the answer, you need other nutrients to get the protien to your muscles where its needed/used.

Foods like nuts, have protien, but are mostly fat... Beans have protien, but have as much or more carbs too...

ie, all protien diet is useless really...

Anyway, I'll leave you to it.

Soy. Lots of soy. And it won't kill you like other foods will if they suddenly find out that protein diets aren't good for you or don't do anything for you. 😉

Clif Builder bars are pretty good (20g per bar). And Boca Burgers ROCK! 9g per patty.

It sucks that they quit making the Boca sausage crumbles. Those were good on pizzas made with Veggy Slices brand shredded parmesan.... Mmmm....

And no.. I'm not a vegetarian. But if something TASTES GOOD and is good for me.... why not? 😉

I came to this thread ready to scroll through to see if anyone had said it, and if not I'd say it myself. Then I see it is the first response.

What else should I expect from this place...

Soy protein's digestibility by the human body is around 56%. Not a good percentage.

Eggs (never throw out egg yolks as that is where most nutrients are) rank at the top spot as far as protein digestibility go (around 96%), then comes most fishes (not all seafood, they differ) at around 87%, lean beef around 80% and chicken around 76%. Ask if you need more info.

Not good

Another source

When the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) undertook the evaluation of the health aspects of soy protein isolates as feed ingredients and found that the only safe use for them were as cardboard packaging sealers. The preamble to the evaluation (SCOGS-101) said:

"The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology recognises that the safety of GRAS substances is of National significance, and the Federation resources are particularly suited to marshalling the opinions of knowledgeable scientists....

...These scientists were chosen for their experience and judgement with due consideration for balance and breadth."

With all that breadth, they decided that the only satisfactory use for soy protein was as a cardboard sealer, and that was because not enough carcinogen would leach into the contents to pose a health hazard.

In those days, per capita consumption was stated to be less than one third of a gram per person per day, and even at that level, soy protein by clear implication posed a health hazard.

I didn't say it was ALL I ate! 🙂 I'm not going to say I eat well, but if I'm going to put a cheese slice on something, why not a Pepper Jack Veggie Slice? 😉 If I'm going to have a quick burger, why not a Boca Burger? Although, on the grill, it's only real beef for me! 🙂 I love grilling up Bubba Burgers. 😀

Beer!

Low protien, high carb. Nice try, though. Beer-based chili, or beer battered fish, those'll work.

Chili would be an awesome protein fix. Meat and beans, covered in cheese. mm......
