Anyone know of a place that does a tobacco ice cream? I'd like to try that some time but it's pretty rare.

Thanks for being a good sport -- this has been fun to watch throughout the morning/afternoon.
No problem. Someone had to defend the people, even those who no longer are at Anandtech, that actually did grow up on lemon ice cream. It wasn't common for me, but it is certainly common for others around the world.

That said, put some lemon curd on vanilla ice cream and you probably won't go back to any other flavor of ice cream for a long time. There is a good reason that lemon was a common flavor throughout history.

Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry have always been the classic flavors. I've never seen lavender and saffron widely sold in grocery stores.

It's usually not just plain saffron. Most commonly it's saffron and chicken liver. Savory, earthy, delicious.

Dear OP,

I just wanted to tell you that I just enjoyed a hearty laugh regarding your obsession with that ice cream topic.

Gelato is generally much lower in fat than ice cream. It might as well be called sherbet.

I think it has to do with the fat. It's milk fat in gelato, butter fat in ice cream (or maybe the reverse, I forget)

I voted lemon. We had it all the time growing up. My mom loved lemon, we would often have lemon cake with lemon frosting and lemon ice cream on her birthday.

I don't think i heard of strawberry ice cream until I went to college.

probably some form of anise or castor flavor
The black licorice we sometimes carry has that really nice, dense, sweet, fatty, ice cream taste followed by a sharp anise flavor that lingers. You either love it or hate it.

Le Mòn is french for lemon

This is sarcasm right? Because that doesn't make sense as that accented o isn't a word and removing this translates to 'the mine'.

In Canada lemon is not a flavor I've ever seen, classics are strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla but we also have another classic of orange pineapple.

Zut alors.
It occurred to me that lemon sounded French. So I Frenchified it and entered it into Google Translate. Guess what it gives you.
