My phone has been acting up and think I really need to start looking at getting a new one. I hate how short lived phones are, I just bought this one like 5 years ago.

The camera app will randomly just fail to launch, it will either half launch but be super choppy and unusable, or give an error. Also the alarm often doesn't work. I sat and watched it today, when it was suppose to go off, it just went immediately to snoozed. Other tests, it just did nothing. The icon showing there's an upcoming alarm disappeared and that's it. Thankfully I'm on night shift, I usually wake up on my own but if it was a day shift I'd have slept through.

Bell has a new phone out for like $200ish I think I might buy it. Won't bother with custom rom this time as you tend to need a very specific model that is compatible and it tends to be the more expensive ones. I hate spending a grand on something that doesn't last. As much as I hate giving up my privacy to Google it's not like I do much on my phone anyway and I can always do an outbound block of Google's IPs at my firewall, at least it won't be able to spy on me at home.
Sounds like a software problem. Maybe try a wipe/reinstall first. Nothing to lose. It won't get any more broken. You have graphene? You could also try something like lineage.

I recall it being a pain to do but I might try that, maybe just put the stock android back just to rule out custom rom issue. I'm suspecting hardware though, even the touch screen part acts up sometimes, I'll by typing and then it just minimizes randomly. Graphene is end of life too so it no longer gets updates so either way I need to switch OS at least. Maybe I'll try that first.

It's not the phone, it's your chimera firmware.

<Sigh> Either Amazon hates me...or I'm such a good customer they just want to give me stuff...

About a month ago, I ordered a pair of shoes from Amazon. Just a bit too small, so I got into a chat with one of their reps. They said they'd send a return label...instead, they sent a QR code. The local shipping place will take packages with a printed label, but NOT a QR code. So, I got back into chat with Amazon...they told me they can't provide a printable label, only the QR code. 1762404874857.png

BUT, since I'm such a "valued customer," they would ship me the next size bigger shoes, and I can keep the first pair, give them away, donate them, whatever. :sigh: So, they send me a new pair of shoes...exactly the same fckn size as the first pair.. Once again...into chat with them., "Oh my, let me send you a QR code to return the shoes.
abg.gif

After objecting...again, they tell me...again. Keep the shoes, donate them, give them away...whatever....and they would issue a full refund.
The closest place that takes the QR codes is about 25 miles away, 45 minute drive each way...so I don't go there too regularly. As it happens, I had to go there last week, so I contacted Amazon AGAIN to see about a QR code for the second pair of shoes. Might as well drop off both pairs...nope. Only one QR code per order. "Can I return 2 separate orders with one QR code?" Nope.

Anyway, I went ahead and dropped off one pair of shoes.. The refund had finally cleared, so before ordering a different pair of shoes, I contacted Amazon BEFORE placing the order. "Oh yes, we can definitely provide you with a printable label if you need to return those. I assure you of this, do not worry." So, I ordered a different pair of shoes in my normal size. Those arrived today...again, too fckn small. All my regular shoes in this size fit me just fine, so I know it's not that my feet have magically grown longer. :x
Back into chat with Amazon..."Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this. I can send you a QR code for return shipping." :x
Spent about 30 minutes in chat...AGAIN with one of their reps. Once I explained the shipping hassle, "I can take care of this for you, trust me." They're supposed to refund me 100% of the purchase price, plus I keep these shoes.

How the fuck do they make any money letting people keep $100+ shoes without paying for them?
(And I'm still looking for shoes that fit my Flintstone Feet...plus have two pairs of "free shoes" that don't fit.)

I'd love to see a breakdown on their costs for things like Prime. They're pouring money into making TV shows, I wonder if that turns a profit for them. I'd much rather just have the shipping part - I keep forgetting they have a streaming service until I hear a review of how bad a show in on there.

I wouldn't worry about it. If they run short on money, Bezos can prop them up with his personal stash. If they said "keep it", I'd keep it. I'm not putting in *any* effort to correct your mistakes. If it takes >10 minutes total, I'm probably not doing it.

Was supposed to do labwork this morning before coming into the office. Had the appt, fasted last night, and for some reason my alarm didn't go off so I slept in and missed the appt. Fasted for nothing and have to do it over again sunday night for a monday appt.

Call lab and ask if you can show up. Their appointments are really fuzzy, more of a flow control really.

I thought about it, but I looked at their appt. schedule for today and they're completely booked. Trying to squeeze me in, or trying to do a walk-in is a nightmare at Quest. I just said, f-it, and got me a nice coffee and breakfast burrito lol

Just because the appointment shows full doesn't mean they are actually full. That was my point. But since you ate, it's a moot point.

I bought more firewood than I think I'll have room to store. Started hauling it to my shelter and the shelter is already almost half full. Taking a break since I'm off night shift and didn't go to bed, so a little groggy right now lol.

I feel like I hardly made a dent in it but it's gone down now that I look at security cameras. Will definitely have enough for the whole winter though and then some. So got my money's worth. Whatever I don't have room to store I'll just leave in that pile, no sense in moving it from one place on the lawn to another place on the lawn. Still need to build the rack for in the house too, will do that tomorrow then start hauling some inside. I kind of have to do that in stages because the snow melts and makes a big mess if I do too much at once. I make a pile around the wood stove then just have a big fan pointed at it.

I feel like this summer just flew by so fast I'm still playing catchup with stuff I should have done in spring.

On Tuesday, Nov 4, I saw the first house this year with all the holiday lights and everything.
10 years ago I would consider egging it, but eggs are like $7/dozen these days, so I'll have to let it go.

I always wanted to go all out on Christmas, but then I need somewhere to store all that...

So I just stick with lights and garlands. My lights are already up, just need to put the garlands up.

Elaborate displays are a spectacle, and kind of interesting to see in a 'Times Square' kind of way, but I like simple, subtle, and classic. A little goes a long way, and it's cheaper/more environmental.

Heard a radio ad for insolvency trustee and they actually said "irregardless"

I am not sure I can trust these people.
