I suppose this counts since now I'm totally on edge after this incident.

My orange cat completely randomly decided to full on attack my black cat, and this wasn't just play fighting. He was completely attacking him claws and all, there was tuffs of hair everywhere and this happened in a flash. I grabbed him and put him in another room, somehow I didn't get scratched much but he did attack me in that process.

It kinda has me worried about what if he does that when I'm not around. That was really weird, they normally get along. They seem fine now though but keeping their distance from each other. .
After my stay in the hospital, the cats got weird. Without writing a novel, the girl especially hates the boy now. She always had little patience with him, but now her temper is about as short as mine. After one big fight, it's mellowed to the occasional short skirmish. Everything works well enough, but it isn't ideal.

tl;dr
The cats should be fine. They handle diplomacy in their own way.

I can't help but think of the first lyric in that hit song by Offspring "Come out and Play."

"You gotta Keep 'em separated!"

I've been allergic to cats for years. When my daughter was younger, I really tried to have a kitten in the house for her, but good lord I was miserable. It lasted about a month before we had to give it away to the wife's godmother.

May wanna try again with a shelter kitten or younger cat?

Key points to note:

Neutered cat releases less allergens.

Regular baths reduce allergens by up to 84%.

Keep them restricted to a specific room.

This cat breed has the lowest allergens: https://www.hillspet.com/cat-care/cat-breeds/sphynx

Yeah, not that pretty but it's supposed to be a fun cat.

One more thing, I would wash my hands with soap after touching them. Toxoplasma gondii is a potentially dangerous parasite. Personally, I don't touch my villa cats though I'm fine with them rubbing against my legs.

My two maintain an uneasy truce; mostly... No battles royale since the one time(that I know of), but I get hissing on pretty much every day that ends in "Y".

The boy's enormous and strong, but the girl's 6# of fury. I'd never bet against her, and when you get down to it, she's my favorite.

My work PC stopped working with my top monitor, no matter what I do. The top monitor works fine with my personal setup. Even tried to bypass the KVM. Everything I did, didn't work. So I asked my work if I can borrow 2 4k monitors from work and they let me, so I replaced my 2 side HD monitors with 2 4k monitors to make up for lack of top one, and I'm just not going to use the top one for work. I will still end up with 3 working 4k monitors and before I had 2 4k and 2 HD so this is an upgrade in the end.

I spent most of the day setting that up but in the process found out that I never kept the screws for the monitor stands for the old monitors, only 1 set of screws. Was going to try to make it work with just 2 per stand but in the process a screw fell inside the monitor, super dumb design, there's like a hole just big enough for the screw right next to where you screw it in. It looks like one of those designs like a phone where you need a putty knife or something to open it. I really didn't feel like dealing with that since I had a lot of work ahead of me to redo the desk and all the wiring so decided to just keep the monitor arms on the monitors. They are very awkward and hard to store like this and I really don't have room, so trying to sell them on FB marketplace as-is. The main FWP part of this post is dealing with people on FB Marketplace. Is this still available?

Doing computer work for a guy who barely knows about computers. His email went down for about half an hour.

"I'm in the insurance business, 30 minutes of downtime is completly unacceptable! how does this get fixed?"
"This is the 1st time it's gone down, ever." <- me
"well I need a backup in place in case this happens again. I can't be without email access"
"that's not how email works in a small office environment, it might go down once in while, even the biggest company there are experience hiccups from time to time, that's just how technology goes."
"that's not the answer I want to hear, I just want it to always work"

I don't know enough to for what steps would be needed to implement some sort of fault tollerant backup email server lol. I told him not to worry about it as it would probably cost $$$$$. Which I thought he'd reply
"Fine, I'll deal with 5-10 possible minutes of downtime a month."

Nope, he wants 24/7/365 and if he needs to have this backup and a backup for the backup to ensure that happen he's okay with that.

His logic was borderline female like "in those 30 minutes I might have missed out on a $20k client!" It reminds me of my Ex claiming the 1 time I didn't answer the phone "what if I was being attacked by a stranger and you don't even pick up!" lol.

I don't really do IT work much anymore, I had almost completely forgotten how insane business owners who don't have a good grasp of technology can be. And god bless him, but he told me he knows I'm old school computer smart and I'll figure out a new email system for him I just need some time to think abut solutions.

4 hours have passed since I left, I literally have nothing.

Just write up a quote for what he wants and email his boss telling them he requested it. Nature will... take its course after that.
He is the boss, and he's lucky I'm honest, I know a ton of computer techs would make up some bullshit and charge him a lot for doing absolutely nothing.

I would check what the big cloud providers provide, specifically for HA email. They probably have something like 99.999% and you pay good money.

Resell that service to them but advertise it as 100% (you just rounded it, put that in fine print) and charge 3x. :p

Reminds me of this IT manager at one of our customers, I was not involved with that customer only heard the story, but he was special. One time there was a power outage and the UPS was running low so the tech asked permission to do a graceful shutdown of servers, not that there was much choice. He got the go ahead and started shutting down servers. IT manager barges in while staring at his Blackberry freaking out that email is down.

At the hospital we used to call those Blackberry zombies. You get even a very slight outage on email or BES server and people would just stumble into the office scrolling their Blackberries. "server down?" "email?" "anything happening?"
