They went back down to $125, so I have two more cases of MREs coming. That's what I was paying in the early 2000s. I'll have more MREs than I really intended on owning, but I can get rid of them. That's only 1 MRE a week for a bit more than a year counting what I already had.
Just checked the price for the lulz, and they're down to $109. Fuckers... :^D

Buy more now you must?
It really is a good price. I've never seen them that cheap, and I've been buying a long time. I'd expect long past inspection dates to go that cheap, but not fairly new ones. You can buy by the pallet too. When I bought the first two boxes, pallet quantity was the same price. If that holds, AND I wanted to resell, I could make some nice money off of them. I'm not interested in sales though, and I'm not interested in patronizing the common local online markets. Craigslist is full of flakes, and I will not do any business with Meta.

I don't need more MREs, but I'm gonna keep an eye on the listing. If it drops to ≤$100, I might buy a couple more cases. Shit, at ~$4.20/meal, I could buy a few cases and give them to homeless people.

That’s why you’re supposed to chew the gum; it’s a laxative.
Is that official lore? I've heard the peanutbutter packs have two sides. If you don't knead the package, you can drink the oil to get things moving, or eat the paste to firm things up. I think it's all bollocks, but there might be something to the new gum. They started using xylitol at some point to get rid of the sugar, and I think that can have a laxative effect in quantity, but I don't know about a couple hard chicklets :^D

The human body creates up to 15g of Xylitol daily. It can also kill dogs coz they can't digest it. I got fascinated by Xylitol's effect on oral health (it kills bacteria coz they try to eat it, can't figure out what to do with it or how to break it down and starve to death). For some time, I was consuming up to 6g of Xylitol through chewing gums. Anyway, once I found out that sugar alcohols can mess up the gut microbiome, I gave up on it and chewing gum in general.

If you're inclined to chew gum, give Falim a try. No sweetener at all. Not a lot of flavor either, and it's tough to chew, but it's a good workout for your jaw. I think my favorite is the classic. That tastes like mastic. Second is clove, and third is mint. Never tried the fruit flavors. The flavors are *very* faint, but they're there. It tastes like old gum you pulled off the bottom of a school desk :^D

Aside from the jaw workout, it stimulates salivation, and that's good for teeth.

I had a painful discussion with a newbie who is a walking billboard for the Dunning-Kruger effect. The person had a good experience on a field project and has announced their intention of stepping into a highly technical leadership position for a project this summer. The problem is that the position they want to walk into requires years of specialized experience and training, while beneficial, can’t replace the experience, too many human factors to be considered. Hopefully, the boss redirects the person’s enthusiasm to a career path that will get them to where they want to be.

Lots of simple minded fools think they can do anything if given the chance. And some of them get lucky which encourages even more simple minded fools to try. They are the reason why knowledge and experience isn't valued that much anymore.

HOLY BIG BACK MADRE DE JESUS CHRISTO.

This is a to-go Chinese container sized box without the dividers. With some of the most tender and flavorful carne asada I've had. OH yeah, it's carne asada fries. the Chipotle creme's great and every bite with everything in it is just perfect. This is enough for a small family, I really wish she offered it in a half order, but she doesn't do anything halfass. There's no way I can finish more than 1/3 and no matter how I reheat it the crinkle cut fries will be soft and semi-mushy.

Her green salsa is awesome I got it on the side to try and offset the fries getting soggier than they already will.

I will CRY real tears if Trump & ICE deport this sweet lady, I'm sure she's not illegal because she has a registered food truck. But I also know there have already been a lot of damn *oppsie!* stories of ICE deporting legal citizens on accident. There's no chance a white person ran food truck could duplicate this.

FUCK YOU DONALD J. TRUMP!

Got a call on my way home from that I got a new noisewall job. I fucking hate noisewall jobs. Our client was partnering with another construction company to do the project, and the other company was supposed to handle the surveying. Well, it sounds like they're fucking everything up, and are bringing me in to fix it. I was happy when the client got the job, and learned I wouldn't be involved. Now, I'm not so happy.

In some ways, it's kind of nice being the hero. I like hearing about surveyors that aren't me, and aren't as good as me, but shitty work pays the same as good work, and being Superman doesn't pay at all. They say this wall is easier than the last one. We'll see...

Can't you make them pay you more? Or you have to do this because you owe them or something?
I'm a pseudo boss. I own nothing, I'm in charge of nothing at the company(which consists of me and the boss at this point), but I'm in charge of the heavy construction because I'm best at it. I'm underpaid, and owed back pay. I already decided I'm staying til the company shuts down though. I don't give too many fucks about any of this, and I'm not interested in surveying anywhere else. When I'm done there, I'm either retiring or doing treework.

For all the lameness, it has perks that are hard to find elsewhere. I pretty much do what I want. Nobody has leverage over me, and I serve at my pleasure. I get the odd treework from connection to the company, and pretty much all the firewood I want. The work truck is mine to use for whatever, and I haven't paid for gas aside from my saws in years. IOW, it suits me well enough, but I still don't feel like doing another noisewall :^D

Now I'm really curious. What's so bad about that?
It's just tedious. You're right next to a highway, so there's lots of noise, and access is a real PITA. Looks like there's 315 posts approximately 16' spacing to layout on this one. I hope that's all I'm doing, and the other company gets the other stuff, but there may be stormdrain, signs, misc stuff in addition. Don't know yet.

Chainbrake on my Milwaukee saw sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. You can't trust it. I wouldn't care too much, but the saw's easy to pickup live. The way you get to work could be accidentally done with a routine pickup/carry, and you could get an unpleasant surprise. It's still under warranty, but I don't feel like dealing with that.

I'm pretty unimpressed with Milwaukee tools. I've seen too many problems with too many tools too new to have problems. The saw works well enough for what it cost, but I can't recommend anything Milwaukee. AFAIC, they make junk.

I bought a cordless Milwaukee router and it's been just a mess. The collet seems to have been machined incorrectly and is too tight.

I used the Taco Bell app to pre-order at the drive-thru. Sometimes they have good deals & app-only specials.

It asked me if I wanted to "buy now and pay later" at checkout :pensive:

Using G.Skill DDR4-3200 SODIMMs in a laptop that can only run it at 2933. If that wasn't enough, the RAM passes the basic Windows Memory Diagnostic test but craps out in 3 minutes or so using y-cruncher. There are four sodimms. I have extra sodimms (one Samsung and two Kingston) so I can get by with replacing three of those if they are bad. But if it's a flaky laptop or the laptop doesn't want even a single G.Skill sodimm, then I have no choice but to eat loss.

Don't want to return laptop coz it's too good and seems to work fine otherwise. G.Skill SODIMMs were bought more than two years ago and I was too lazy to test them in a Dell laptop because installing RAM in all four slots in a Dell Precision laptop is much harder than doing it in a Thinkpad. I suppose one other option is to try installing the sodimms in the Dell laptop and see if y-cruncher is able to finish on that. ARRRGHHH!!!!

By the way, I blame Dell for my bad luck. They shouldn't have made upgrading RAM so much harder.
