Yeah and that land was full of gold too, I did not have mineral rights mind you. But yeah my intention was that if it does not work out I would just sell it. I got pressured into not buying it but next one I find I'm not even teling them about it. They clearly want nothing to do with my dream, so F them. It's my life. Watching lot of off grid Youtube channels or channels where people have lot of land and it really makes me want to go the same route.

As for the coffee maker I think it's pooched. Once it gets to about 1/3 out it just starts to make the super loud gargling sound non stop and barely brews. Takes about an hour to finish brewing. Ran vinagar and CLR through it, no luck. Visually I don't see anything that looks wrong with it so the problem must be internal and I can't really see a way to open it, it's all molded plastic and basically one piece.

Canadians drink coffee? I thought they just drank hot maple syrup! I guess you learn something new every day!

Haha that is brave.

So FWP for today, I think I disappointed my parents. Have to say that is a feeling that hurts. They are legit disappointed. Especially my dad. I'm buying a 65k 32 acre property, and they are totally against it. My dad was flipping out on the phone. "You could have bought a camper for half that price and park it anywhere!". I get that, but I wanted the land, so it's my own.

And now I'm kind of having my doubts... but I guess I will just need to try to prove them wrong that it was not a bad idea. That will be motivation to do work on it I guess.
Well, unless it's somehow (partly) their money... fuck 'em. You're an adult. Tell them to (kindly) F off.

My mother flipped out when I told her that I had a software-development position at a startup (*). She went off on me, why could I have been a Farmer. (Like her dad.)

Fuck em.

(*) Edit: This was 25-odd years ago.

My coffee machine started acting strange. It's making the same sound as when it's almost done brewing, but making that sound throughout the entire brewing process. It also took like 20 minutes to brew, and I ended up with less coffee for the same amount of water as normal. It's just a cheap Proctor Silex so I might just replace it but I hate throwing something away. Might try to see if I can figure out what's going on. I don't see anyting that looks abnormal though, so it's weird.
LOL. The $20 single-serve K-cup brewer from Proctor-Silex sold at Walmart? I have the same one, and mine's been acting a little funny after a year or so too. I used to brew a lot, like 3-4 cups a day, now I barely use it at all. I need to de-scale it, something I read mentioned using White Vinegar.

OK, here is something for the tribe to help me with. There is this sale going on in the LG OLED world. I was origonally hyped about getting the 65" CX model and incorrectly ordered it and then went through the hassle of returning it. Now I'm willing to order the 77" for nearly twice the price of the CX but I have this thing at home called a wife and I would dread that she would turn on DirecTV and watch some garbage entertainment with a bright channel logo that will retain an imagine.

I have flashbacks of 2001 when I had Dish networks and their channel guide used this teeth-whitening blinding font for everything in the channel guide and for the Dish logo. It took less than three months before I noticed the CRT burn in where the metal-halide phosphor wore due to the excessively high brightness. Future advance wear was mitigated by lowering the brightness, dumping Dish, and teaching the wife and local TV stations about why they needed to use a transparent or silhouette station logo as they were causing harm to their viewers TVs. Back in 2001 that 65" CRT-based Mitsubishi 65709 cost me $3K so the wear really hit my wallet. Now I feel the above may repeat itself.

What say you? Wife or OLED

I'd rather have the JVC DLA-RS2000. I tried to test the waters on that one saying that if I were going to double up on the 65" to go 77" then why not double up again and get the new projector for $8K. I'd much rather her watch crap DirecTV on the projector than the OLED.

Nah it's a regular drip machine. Probably no more than $20 though, and got it as a gift when I bought the house. It went into storage for a long time as I did not drink coffee back then. I'm still going to run vinegar/water through it and see if I can get it going, but I also kinda want to buy a fancier one... something with a timer. So if I can't save this one I won't be TOO sad but I also hate to throw something out that has so much plastic. I do wonder if I disassemble it and separate the parts if the plastic is recyclable though.

As another FWP I'm starting to run out of vinegar, going to have to get my ID ready! :p

I think I fixed my coffee machine. Does not seem to be gargling anymore until it gets to the very end which is normal.

Still need to run more water through it so I can clear up the vinegar now.

Our new kitten went to the vet for her initial check-up yesterday and is feLV positive. :( Our other cats are vaccinated so we're not too concerned about it spreading. The kitten like got it in-utero.

I had to wait in line for over an hour just to buy a gun this morning. Can you believe that?
Did it come with ammo? You can buy some shotgun and .17HMR around here. Otherwise, dust bunnies.

On the upside, if I need what I have, pretty sure someone will shoot me before I can fire it all.

No, but this is a .45 ACP handgun that I already have a fair bit of ammo on hand for as I already own several guns chambered in this caliber.

Still a shorter line than voting! lol. kind of sad actually.

Sorry to hear. My cat has been drinking and peeing a lot, so I was getting worried it might be diabetes. I brought her in today and thankfully it's not that, but it's kidney related issues which should be reversible via diet. So vet gave me some special food. Normally not a fan of the vet food as there's lot of grains etc and I feel it's a bit of a money grab but given there is an actual issue I'll listen to their advice and keep using that food so I can see if things get better. Like $500+ though for a checkup it's crazy.

Cat also does not like going to the vet, and made sure to let me know. lmao.
