But only to add the entry in the app. I doubt it would let you just reuse the same code, if you even thought of taking a screenshot of it at the time. Though now that you mention it, I wonder if it actually would work... Probably depends on the app/site though.
Nope, you can do it on as many times as you need. Just need to re-enrol. They have your number on file

Hmm that is good to know, I guess from now on I will have to remember to keep a backup of the code when I first set it up.

As a side note think I just bricked my phone... It's not booting into the OS anymore just the rescue menu....

You can put the firmware image on sd card and flash from rescue menu

That's good to know... does the option show up if it detects the image?

I think the package I downloaded does not have the image and that is part of the issue. And when I search for it, I just get actual pictures of the phone. Starting to debate on just biting the bullet and getting a new phone. Motorola Moto G8 looks interesting and is only a bit over $300. Still need to do further research to see what else I find.

What phone do you have? You search for firmware not image lol.

Blackberry DTEK50. I did find one now but it's not off Blackberry's site... so I don't know if I want to trust it.

https://www.avatecc.com/2019/08/blackberry-dtek50-firmware-autoloader-flasher-file.html

I'm kinda also researching phones at the same time I might just say screw it and get a new one. Given it's not getting security updates and I don't know exactly how the hacker got in, it might just happen again.

I find it annoying that this phone had a selling point of being secure yet they drop security updates after a short while lol. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Give it a try, what have you got to lose?

That's what I did, but don't think that package comes with the image, because all it did is wipe the phone, it did not actually reload it. Unless it just failed for some reason. The output is not very descriptive.

You shouldn't have to worry about malicious firmware from 3rd parties unless someone discovered an exploit for the Blackberry's secure bootloader and Blackberry never patched it. The official FW should be signed and encrypted. The bootloader will check all that before continuing.

Good to know, though just realized that site does not actually have a place to download it anyway... I looked at it too quick. Just says "link not ready" and nothing more.

I'm leaning towards just getting a new phone at this point. Moto G8+ looks interesting for the price:

Still need to keep searching and see what else I come across. I basically have today and tomorrow to decide anyway, everything is closed with it being Thanksgiving so even if I order it won't move until Tuesday.

I may even just go to a local walk in store and see if they can sell me anything in my price range. Going to have to wait a whole week for that though since I'll be on night shifts then it will be the weekend.

Moto G8+ is a decent phone for the price. Wait for prime day, Amazon may put it on sale. Last Prime Day the G7 was on sale for US200

Kinda need a phone now though... but yeah I am kind of eyeing that one at the moment, it seems to be the best for the price.

Oh wait Prime day is actually Tuesday. But I think from sounds of it you need to be a prime member to take part. So don't think I can take advantage of it. But I'll see.

Yeah just realized that now. I ended up checking after. I might just do that.

No luck trying to find the firmware for the old phone, only landing on super sketchy sites... going to end up just getting a virus on my computer too lol.

Not finding much results for that under than one that is like $600+ There is one for $200 but it's marked as unavailable when you pick unlocked.

Probably going to stick with the Moto G8+ I think at around $300. From sounds of it, you are at the mercy of the manufacturer for security updates (I always thought those just came from Google through regular updates) and I learned the hard way those don't happen for very long so if I'm going to be stuck upgrading every few years I don't really want to be putting more than a few hundred into a phone.

It's kind of too bad there is not much options for dumb phones these days, I would not mind a full keyboard dumb phone that has a good camera. Something where I don't even need to worry about updates or getting hacked or all the spy BS etc. Just back to basics.

It rained all weekend so I used my food dehydrator to dry ginkgo nuts after depulping it. Now my basement smells like poop.
