In the middle of eating one of my prepared lunches and forgot that I brought left over chicken pot pie.:(

Might just have to eat both.

Dammit...she did it to me again.

"Stop working. Let's go have lunch at the beach."

Those damned rocks aren't gonna shovel themselves! (believe me...I've tried repeatedly to make that happen)
Oh well...they'll probably still be there tomorrow...or the next day...or next week.
Sheit, I'll take shoveling rocks anyday over my "developer" job (I do about 25% or less actual software development).

Me too...to a point. I don't like "inside jobs."
I finished moving the rocks (for now) last night. A out 2 1/2 cu. yards total. Once I get a few more things done...I get to move those same rocks again.(sure hope I don't wear them out!)

You're about the same age so it might be about the same time.

Normally I would like a software development job, it's what I went to school for. I just do hardly any of it at my current job. It blows, for that and another main reason. I'll stop bitching about my job though.

Got back from camping and of course the network died on my environmental control server, which also does DNS. So essentially everything was down. Thankfully the damage was minimal and rebooting it solved it. I could have lost all my NAS luns to that and things would have been much worse. Don't get why that server does that. I need to make a cron job or something to make it reboot itself if it loses the network. Basically it just stops routing packets for no reason. It still runs just passes no traffic. It seems to do it every time I go camping too so that means I won't get any alerts on my phone if something happens to my house.

$1360 for a macbook for the kid....Damn, that would have been a nice windows machine but he wanted the Apple. The scholarship $$ he earned is paying for it but it still hurts my sensibilities.

My back sunburn is entering that stage where it starts to violently itch at random but yet still hurts when I try to scratch it.

I wonder if alcohol will help. Gonna have a Boneshaker. The fun part about camping is all the left over alcohol. My eyes are bigger than my liver when I go to the LCBO and I always end up buying too much alcohol, if there is such a thing. :p

I think there are ways to hack Macbooks so you can install Linux on it. At least then it will be running a real operating system. :p

Sony release some new telephoto lenses today and the pre-orders for them started in Mid-June. I put a pre-order for one on Amazon on July 11. According to a forum I visit, those who pre-ordered on the first day won't get theirs shipped until the first week in September. Best Buy, Adorama, Nebraska Furniture Mart and bunch of other major retailers/vendors are all in the same boat and don't have any stock on first day they were released...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SZXDN9X
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-2...nex-fs700-white-black/6356771.p?skuId=6356771

It is a $2k lens...who would have thought there would have been this much demand....

Staying at a VRBO in the NH white mountains. I don’t function well in the morning w/o coffee. Put in my DD dark roast and hit brew. Nada. Turn it on and off, press different buttons, unplug and plug back in - shit no coffee this morning.

My brother moves the coffee maker 15 minutes later - “hey AJ I think I found the problem”, forgot the water - duuuhhh. Did I mention that I don’t function well in the morning without coffee?

Apparantly all my family is going to my uncle's cottage. I found this out at 11:00 and we were leaving at 12:00. Gee thanks for the notice. My mom's text was really cryptic too it was basically like "you can come around 12:45 we're leaving at 12:00. (which makes no sense but ok). Once I fished for more info then I realized we were going. I'm too sunburned to spend more time in the sun especially if I find myself in a situation where there's no shade around. They want to go on the boat too, right at peak of day. Yeah I can't subject myself to that.

I said I would pass since I want my sunburn to not get worse and they keep trying to convince me. I'm 33 and my family still does not realize how easily I sunburn or how much pain I'm in when I do.

Just cover yourself with bags of milk or something to keep the sun rays off your delicate ginger skin.

They didn't provide coffee? What kind of dump are you staying in?

Yeah the specs of the 4 are quite good. I don't have a use for one yet but I'm sure I'll find one. I kinda want to build a RPI based blade server, would be kind of fun. Lot of stuff that runs in VMs could run on those instead. Keep the VMs for windows stuff and everything else can run on Pis.

No my sister texted me when she found out I was not coming and tried to convince me.
