Fell asleep early, woke up at 10:30, and I've been up since. Deciding on trying to sleep,or making coffee. Coffee usually puts me to sleep.

Ugh when will this heat wave end. Suppose to be humidex of 36 tomorrow. I hate to complain about the heat when it's cold most of the year but this is getting a tad much. I want to be able to do stuff outside without sweating buckets.

My desktop finally died. I got it to boot once, but then video dropped, and it wouldn't boot anymore. I think the gfx card died. Can't even remember what it is anymore I installed it so long ago :^D Currently typing on my acer netbook. This thing's pretty pokey, but hey!, it works!

Guess I need to start thinking about buying/building a new tower. Maybe I'll start with a new video card. If that fixes my old machine for awhile longer, it'll give me room to decide. I'm kind of leaning towards a pawn shop special. I'm not that interested in hardware anymore. As long as it functions, it's good enough.

Citibank decided that ÖBB was "scary" so even though I had a travel notice on my credit card, I couldn't buy a train ticket, even after clicking "ok" on the fraud alert email. Which meant I had no functioning credit cards for, like, two whole hours while I was on vacation.

This entire day is a first world problem for me. omg, ever have one of those days where you wish you just didn't wake up? Today is it.

So I wake up to the sound of my cat puking, I manage to rush her into her room and close the door before she starts. I go back to bed. I wake up later in the day, shower, all that stuff. Realized I bought all the stuff for my spaghetti sauce but never did it, and I start night shift tonight, and there's no way the onion is going to last in the fridge till I'm off again so I have no choice but to start now. It takes about 4 hours so that brings me very close to when I have to leave so it's a big rush to get it ready. At some point while I'm working on that I decide to let the cat out figuring she already puked and ate it and that she probably won't do it again. She goes and sleeps on my computer chair and something tels me to choo her out of that room and close the door and I don't listen to that instinct. Whatever.

So I keep working on the sauce and start brewing coffee so that once everything is in the pot I can sit down at the computer with my coffee. I go to sit down on the computer... only to find that my cat freaking puked on my computer chair. I was FURIOUS. Not only did it go on the chair but it splashed all over it, spreading all over the carpet and the wheels, so if I try to move the chair it will just make further mess. Huge nasty vile mess. I force her into her room again, which is where she'll stay for the next 16 hours. i'm not only pissed at her but mad at myself for not listening to my instinct. I should have just left her in her room for the day. When she pukes it's usually a multiple day thing. Pretty much have to lock her up until it ends.

I lift the chair outside while trying not to spill any on the floor or myself and just throw it out the side door to deal with later. Later on I go downstairs to turn on water to the hose as I have not used it yet this year. Well when I turn the valve I realize the nipple was loose and it starts to spray water everywhere and I'm trying to contain it but the pressure is too high and even after closing back the water there was too much pressure built up for it to stop. I manage to tighten the nipple so it stops. Now I'm drenched, the drycore floor is drenched, the radio and the CRT TV that is nearby on the ground is drenched. FML.

So I get outside to use the hose, and the freaking hose reel starts to leak. The internal pipe freaking froze and broke over winter. At this point I'm just fuming, every possible thing that can go wrong is going wrong. I don't even know what to do with myself at this point I'm just so pissed. I know I now need to buy a new computer chair and a new hose reel. And while I'm at it I may as well buy air compressor fittings so I can blow out my hose line every year because I've had nothing but issues with that hose. If it's not the valve on the house that freezes it's something else.

So I head towards Staples and get hit with major traffic jam. It's only 4pm. Then I realize that power must be out for that end of town. I get near Staples and don't bother going because if power is out they'll be closed so I keep going as Home Depot is not far but lights are out all the way there too. I turn to a back road while I still can so I can bail from this gridlock. Traffic was not bad heading that way but the other lane was at a stand still and I would not have been able to do a left turn to get out of it, so it was my chance to avoid it. I drive back home and now I just made it back. Sitting on a kitchen chair at the computer. What a freaking day. This power outage is going to mean I'll be super busy at work too so it's not going to end when I get to work. It's not just my city it seems to be affecting big chunks of the region. I guess the good news is by the time I start my shift hopefully all the techs will be at their sites with their generators and there won't really be anything left to dispatch and it will be taken care of.

But wow, what a freaking day. The puke being the worse part. I really don't feel like having to buy a new computer chair. I've racked up a bit over a grand on the credit line from misc expenses that I've been trying to pay off and there's always something that seems to come up where I can't pay it.

Every time I have to replace a computer chair I'm a step closer towards getting rid of that cat.

My ex-cat always threw up shortly after we fed her fish scraps.
Once it was right onto my beige coat spread out on a bed. I took a photo of it, for some reason.
Fortunately, the twill coat somehow cleaned up with nary a trace of vomit.

You had to keep a close eye on her. If she started retching and hacking, we'd quickly move her to a linoleum floor or outside if we had the time. But she'd only barf after eating certain foods. Not too frequent.

A temp employee borrowed my work truck. It came back caked in mud inside and out and the recovery strap is chewed. When I suggested that the employee get the truck washed an expression of disbelief was returned. My stance of dominance prevailed and the employee is getting the truck washed. I still have to go buy a replacement recovery strap. The last time a temp borrowed my truck, it came back with a smashed bumper so I guess this is an improvement.

For the past few days, I've kept biting the inside of my lower lip when eating. The swelling won't go down because I keep biting it, and I keep biting it because the swelling won't go down. :(

Old desk at work, cell phone service acceptable.

Move to desk 12 feet away from old desk. Cell phone service turns to shit. WTF

One of the sinks in my bathroom cracked and leaks now. Good thing I have two. Bad thing is if I can't find an exact replacement, I'll be buying two, or maybe even two plus a countertop because OCD.

State auditor. No deficiencies. Haven't ever had one but it's still a little stressful because this guy can take my keys and send me home.

Pills for the cat(Azodyl) went up $10($80 total). That's for a 45 day supply. I could get it at the old price online, but I'd rather give my money to the vet.

I was awakened by a call to my cell phone claiming to be from the Netherlands. I guess the caller ID system just looked at the "+31" and determined it was the Netherlands, but this morning I did a little digging on the web and it claims for someone in the Netherlands, whether using a land line or mobile, must also use a "6" following the "+31" to get a trunk exiting their country. This the call's number should begin "+316", but what I got was "+314". I assume this was a scam and that someone managed to modify the call header information but of course I, and the web, could be wrong.

smoke a bowl, drink a beer, you're winding yourself up. Deep breaths. In with the good air, out with the bad juju.

Supplements I ordered are now touring the country for a week amidst a major heatwave. They'll probably be worthless by the time they show up. No potency. What a waste of money.
Saddest part is ... last night the package was only 155 miles away, at midnight ... but by noon had flown 1400 miles to the east coast (NJ). A fur piece from central US.

My fridge has been smelling funny lately. Kind of smells like feet. I finally dug in to see what it was, and there was a bag with /something/ liquid and decomposing in there. Cheese? Fuck if I know. Not cleaning it tonight, but knowing your enemy is the first step to victory. I guess I'll fool with it this weekend :^/

For that day I think vodka would have been required lol. I still didn't get a chance to buy a new chair and hose reel. I'll do that tomorrow since this is my last shift. I do have wine in my fridge too that is calling my name.
