This entire day is a first world problem for me. omg, ever have one of those days where you wish you just didn't wake up? Today is it.
So I wake up to the sound of my cat puking, I manage to rush her into her room and close the door before she starts. I go back to bed. I wake up later in the day, shower, all that stuff. Realized I bought all the stuff for my spaghetti sauce but never did it, and I start night shift tonight, and there's no way the onion is going to last in the fridge till I'm off again so I have no choice but to start now. It takes about 4 hours so that brings me very close to when I have to leave so it's a big rush to get it ready. At some point while I'm working on that I decide to let the cat out figuring she already puked and ate it and that she probably won't do it again. She goes and sleeps on my computer chair and something tels me to choo her out of that room and close the door and I don't listen to that instinct. Whatever.
So I keep working on the sauce and start brewing coffee so that once everything is in the pot I can sit down at the computer with my coffee. I go to sit down on the computer... only to find that my cat freaking puked on my computer chair. I was FURIOUS. Not only did it go on the chair but it splashed all over it, spreading all over the carpet and the wheels, so if I try to move the chair it will just make further mess. Huge nasty vile mess. I force her into her room again, which is where she'll stay for the next 16 hours. i'm not only pissed at her but mad at myself for not listening to my instinct. I should have just left her in her room for the day. When she pukes it's usually a multiple day thing. Pretty much have to lock her up until it ends.
I lift the chair outside while trying not to spill any on the floor or myself and just throw it out the side door to deal with later. Later on I go downstairs to turn on water to the hose as I have not used it yet this year. Well when I turn the valve I realize the nipple was loose and it starts to spray water everywhere and I'm trying to contain it but the pressure is too high and even after closing back the water there was too much pressure built up for it to stop. I manage to tighten the nipple so it stops. Now I'm drenched, the drycore floor is drenched, the radio and the CRT TV that is nearby on the ground is drenched. FML.
So I get outside to use the hose, and the freaking hose reel starts to leak. The internal pipe freaking froze and broke over winter. At this point I'm just fuming, every possible thing that can go wrong is going wrong. I don't even know what to do with myself at this point I'm just so pissed. I know I now need to buy a new computer chair and a new hose reel. And while I'm at it I may as well buy air compressor fittings so I can blow out my hose line every year because I've had nothing but issues with that hose. If it's not the valve on the house that freezes it's something else.
So I head towards Staples and get hit with major traffic jam. It's only 4pm. Then I realize that power must be out for that end of town. I get near Staples and don't bother going because if power is out they'll be closed so I keep going as Home Depot is not far but lights are out all the way there too. I turn to a back road while I still can so I can bail from this gridlock. Traffic was not bad heading that way but the other lane was at a stand still and I would not have been able to do a left turn to get out of it, so it was my chance to avoid it. I drive back home and now I just made it back. Sitting on a kitchen chair at the computer. What a freaking day. This power outage is going to mean I'll be super busy at work too so it's not going to end when I get to work. It's not just my city it seems to be affecting big chunks of the region. I guess the good news is by the time I start my shift hopefully all the techs will be at their sites with their generators and there won't really be anything left to dispatch and it will be taken care of.
But wow, what a freaking day. The puke being the worse part. I really don't feel like having to buy a new computer chair. I've racked up a bit over a grand on the credit line from misc expenses that I've been trying to pay off and there's always something that seems to come up where I can't pay it.
Every time I have to replace a computer chair I'm a step closer towards getting rid of that cat.
