Is it alternator-sized?I have 6 pounds of smoked brisket in the fridge. I live in a 2 person household.
I was breaking even but after sold my cars, reduced things I didn't need/use, I find that I'm happier because I'm not worrying daily about money and what I should have vs what I do have.
It sure looks like you.there's porn out there claiming to be me, but it's not me. i was home all day yesterday
Fixed items like my car arn't really my issue, they're paid for, it's all the reoccurring costs like taxes and utility bills that are the real killer. I can probably cut out TV service but since it's a bundle I would not save much. I need to call and find out what I can do though. Worse case I can even go with the slower speed internet. It's still going to be faster than DSL.
I do have some junk I can try to sell though, just to make a bit of one time money, but barely worth it. How much are people willing to pay for stuff like 2GB of ECC ram or an old intel heat sink that is probably not for a relevant socket type.
But there's something I am doing wrong because I'm in rougher shape than my coworkers who have kids. Something is sucking up my money that I don't know, I might have to start tracking the variable things like groceries or misc purchases. Maybe I'm spending way more on that stuff than I realize.
I do need to seriously start thinking about a secondary income though, because if I lost my job I would be screwed. Not really much in tech here. I don't want to move, I put too much work into my house to start all over.
On the flip side, I finally got my T4 slip. Almost made 80k this year. With that kind of salary I really should not be in this much trouble though, I should be swimming in money. But now that I got that paper I can go get my taxes done. I usually get about a grand back, so I can slap that on the credit line and be in the black again.
You make about $80K and you are struggling even with no spouse/kid? Something is wrong indeed. Highly recommend that you sit down and write down every single expense and I mean every single one, no exception. Since you mentioned that you have a house, make sure the housing expense is about 30% of your take home income. Have to repair those financial leaks if you want to finish your journey.
Yeah I've gone through all my expenses, no way I could get it down to 30%. City taxes alone are close to like 20% and keep going up every year. Then add all the utilities etc. Honestly I'm not sure how people who make less are managing. Costs of living are just creeping up fast. Need to seriously start considering moving to a cheaper city, but don't really want to start my life over. If ever I won the lotto my dream is an off grid cottage though, well maybe still get internet, but produce my own energy. Energy is another big cost too especially hydro. Keeps going up at a face pace as well. Hydro bill is typically 170/mo. You will pay at least $100 even if you were to not use it at all. (ex: solar)
There's a few "luxeries" I could cut like domain names and web hosting but that's under $100/mo.
LMAO.I went a for hike this afternoon, pushing myself to keep up a fairly rapid pace. I did pretty well. I got back, showered, and set out for dinner. I had a total klutz attack stepping off the curb into the parking lot, not quite face planting. I recovered and stumbled to my truck. I had an audience of course. I think one woman called 911 to report a drunk driver (I don't drink, I just don't walk so good). Also, my laptop keyboard don't like double leters.
Needed to buy 10 bagels for work today but 12 was cheaper. Now I have 2 extra bagels, they're going to be hard by tomorrow.
