Bought a brand new Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 for $150 still in the box wrapped and I am stuck on Android 4.4.2 if I want root access.

FML. :'(

I found out that the Beemster cheese i bought was for sale (2 for the price of 1) in another supermarket. Now i have enough cheese till the end of April. ()🙂
 
I bought a crappy, but cheap, laser pointer off of ebay. It lasted 30 seconds before dying. Did I mention cheap (under $6 including shipping). I didn't even bother with complaining, claims, or bad rating because under $6 it wasn't worth it. The seller contacted me to ask for feedback. So I shot a note back telling them that it died after thirty seconds. I figured maybe they would send another one or something. This was their response:

Hi dear friend, We are so sorry for this inconvenience.
For this issue, how about we refund you $1.5 as compensation? And wish you can give us 5
star positive feedback.

Spent the day putting a bunch of banker boxes together. I ran out of tape while taping the rough edges on the bottom and had to use crappier, narrower tape🙁.

And I spent the entire day putting old school notes into boxes and putting them back on the shelves they came from...
 
some asshole put a bottle of champagne in my freezer during my party tonight and forgot it there. 😡

didn't discover it until after everyone had gone home, I'd finished with 99% of the cleaning, and I went to pour myself a glass of ice water to relax and take a breather before bed.

instead I got to spend a good chunk of time cleaning out ice and glass from my freezer, throwing out half the stuff in there, and then washing the floor in front of the fridge to clean up everything that had dripped down (and taking a shower myself because my feet were now sticky with the champagne I'd stepped in)

idgi, we had ice buckets galore and a whole cooler filled with nothing but ice outside.
 
I can't sell my collection of 20-ish DVDs for even $1 each. Might have to Value Village all this shit (donate).

Edit: Face-palming and almost shitting myself thinking about how much money I blew on stupid college textbooks that are now worthless. No bookstore will want them cause they're very specialized textbooks, no student wants them because they're almost a decade old, and I'm having trouble chucking them because I paid over $100 for most of them. Secondary education...

I swear to god, some asshole must come in over the weekend and turn the thermostat up to 100 degrees. That, or the thing resets to a given temp (ie, "Surface of Sun") if no one touches it for a certain amount of time. Every single Monday morning I come in and it's SO FKING HOT IN THIS GOD DAMN OFFICE BUILDING. To counter this issue, I opened a few windows to let a nice 50 degree air blow through a little while. Then all the old fucks I work with, who have piss running through their veins, get cold in 13 seconds and shut them. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

my old office was like that.

eventually found out that they shut off the heat/AC on weekends, which led to it being super hot (even in the winter time, stale air + greenhouse effect)

it's bad. It's so stuffy and gross and hot and I wish I didn't work with a bunch of vampires because I enjoy fresh air and bright sunshine. It's just disgusting stagnant air. Turning the fan on at my desk just blows around said shitty air. :'(

this is standard practice I believe now. they do it in the winter here

This was yesterday, but anyhoo...

I forgot to plug-in my Plug-in Prius the day before, so yesterday the extra EV portion of the battery was not charged.

That means for my short trip to my kid's sports class and back, I had to use gas. Cost me 50 cents worth of gas or whatever, and brought my electric to gas usage ratio stats down slightly.

Have you worked up your cost per mile for electricity/fuel? I'm curious about how the total operating costs of a plug-in compares to a gasoline car.

These days in my area, probably not that much saved in terms of cost of electricity vs gas, although there is a moderate savings in CO2 production (because in Ontario, Canada, the electricity is cleaner than in most of the US). If I paid all the electricity myself at the lowest rates, I'd probably save maybe a few hundred bucks a year, compared to the current prices of 85-90 cents / L.

OTOH, in my particular case, I still save a moderate amount because I charge up for free at work. I'd say about 1/4 to 1/3 of my "fuelling" costs are paid for by my workplace, because I charge up there, meaning they're paying for the equivalent about a couple hundred bucks worth of gas per year for me.

P.S. I didn't buy this car to save the world, or really even to save more on gas. I did want to buy a used Prius, but the only one I liked with a higher end option package that I wanted happened to be a Plug-in. All the other ones were either base/near-base models, were too old, or had too much mileage. So I spent a few thousand more and bought the used Plug-in. I paid CAD$29000 last year for the Plug-in with 29000 km. With current conversions, that's about US$21500 with 18000 miles.

I'm on call this week, even though I never get called out, I get anxiety over the thought of something big breaking and getting called out in the middle of the night.

I know the feeling. I'm not sure exactly what it is you do... but when "something big" breaks, it's pretty damn cool to see.

ie, 69kV transformer burning up, 4kV breaker faults, gas turbines failing, etc. 😀
