if my boyfriend and I were to get married, we'd have an income tax penalty because we make too much money.

also, new neighbors invited us over for dinner, but all I want to do is go home and go to bed. :'(

Word nested numbered list formatting has developed full reporductive potential. Now my report looks like one of those footnoted bibles.

Recently I've had that stupid fucking Green Day song stuck in my head, the one where the chorus starts "One, twenty one guns..." OMFG I HATE THAT SHIT SONG. I texted my buddy that line and the next day he replied that he hadn't heard the song in years and that it was in his head all day. LOL.

Also, all I want to do is go home and play World of Warships. But after I get off work I probably am only gonna play a couple rounds and eat dinner, and then just go to bed because I'm ungodly frickin tired.

This usually helps the terrible-song-in-your-head problem:

I failed at the stock market so I don't get to brag about all the extra money I made.

It's really just inconvenience in the brackets. Make a little more or a little less and you will be into the bracket (regardless if single) or outside the bracket.

Toss more in your 401k pre-tax. I bumped my contribution up to 30% in an effort to easily reach the $18k max this year.

Also, once you have a kid one of you will do the inevitable quit and then you can thank your marriage tax brackets :awe:

Again with the brackets bull. We have a progressive tax system.

the sandwich lady fucked up my order... but gave it to me for free because I said it's fine, I'll just take it instead of having them re-make it (ordered roast beef/cheddar 6" sub... they made me turkey/swiss on a roll)

definitely not... the older I get, the less I want them.

tbh, I could only see having a kid if we were in the position where one of us could quit their job without sacrificing our lifestyle/financial goals (ie: buying a house, taking lots of vacations, etc)

don't see that happening ever, though, unless one of us were to get a job offer at our NYC salaries somewhere with a significantly lower cost of living. I feel like I'm probably close to my max salary outside of yearly COL raises, and while I could see my BF making the jump into the low 6-figures, that wouldn't be enough to live off of.

long-term, I see him going the independent contractor route while I keep my hopefully-safe/stable job for the insurance benefits.

There are times when income is problem in the way they are thinking about it. For example, I make too much to qualify for a traditional IRA; If my wife takes a job i'll make too much to qualify for a Roth IRA.

Engineering department.... Room full of mostly dudes and maybe one fat chick. The people taking the blood were even dudes. Terrible place to whip it out.... Unless of course you meant my kindle. Which I whipped out and read a chapter or two

Nerd alert.
