Al vs GA halftime, kids toss football's for $100k scholarship. Up front, they ask what they will do with the $. Sadly, neither said, "Hookers and blow." Youts these days.

And you football peeps should be watching this game. I hope both lose but it's been good.

Our dishwasher decided to bite the dust tonight in the middle of washing a load of dishes.

Of all nights it had to die, it had to be on a night when we had a lot of dishes due to making a batch of Cincinnati chili.

And as bad as my back is, hand washing dishes wasn't fun at all. My back was like "what the fuck is this bullshit?". :p

When I build my homestead I want two of every appliance, so I have redundancy. Two dishwashers would also mean never having to put dishes away. Take clean dishes from one, use them, put in other dishwasher. Big brain!

What sucks is the dishwasher (Whirlpool) is like 5 years old. It was a nicer model, but the saying of "they don't build them like they used to" really applies to most major appliances now. The dishwasher we replaced was at least 15 years old.

Yeah it sucks how everything is designed to break now. They definitely don't make stuff like they used to.

Worse is they keep pushing all this smart crap, so they can introduce new ways to spy on us in our homes. Pretty much impossible to buy a non smart TV now, the next thing is probably going to be fridges. I think the idea is to try to have at least 1 smart appliance in every room for more streamlined spying.

Dude...smart refrigerators have been a thing for several years. My washer & dryer have the option to be "smart" if I buy the module and install it.

Do smart appliances have to be connected to your network for them to work?

I never said they were not. Though right now you still have the option to buy non smart. And yeah washer/dryers seem to be going that route now too. It's crazy.

Guessing they will force you to make an account before you get to even use it. Have not used any myself but that seems to be the trend with lot of stuff now. Game consoles, drones, even cameras (ex: gopro).

Hopefully there will be an electronics community that finds ways to hack this stuff though. Things like dryer and washer should be easy enough to bypass everything since all you're really doing is running pumps, motors etc, so basically you could replace the control board with something completely custom that does the same thing but without the smart crap. I can see it where they start potting electronics right into the motors though, where you need the smart stuff to drive the motor because it requires an encrypted signal and not just a simple PWM signal. That will be trickier for people to hack.

So my work PC died a few hours ago. It started to get super sluggish and locked up. Pulled power cord and got the dreaded NTLDR missing.

Managed to find a spare machine around the office that is on the domain, and got some of my stuff working, but what a royal pain all this is. My company sucks at managing SSL certs, lot of them are expired, or using invalid encryption schemes etc so need to try to find a browser where it will let you through it. Usually IE6, but then some sites won't run in IE6 because they try to load some java stuff which ends up crashing the whole browser or simply try to load code that is too new for it. Need like 4 different browsers here because not everything works in one, it's a huge pita. To make matters worse it's different for everyone, what works in Firefox for one person might only work in Chrome for another person.

Long story short I managed to open like 80% of what I need to do my job, so I should be able to last the night.

Also don't have Ultramon on this machine which is a pain too, since I have like 70+ items in my task bar so if I minimize something it's basically gone.

Got my new win10 machine at work. The new Outlook is so weird. When you type the cursor does this weird lag thing when you type, like it does not keep up with characters, apparently it's a widely known issue. I notice the same in Excel. The text colours are also weirdly feint, like it's just not as clear to distinguish a read email from unread.

also if you try to right click with more than 1 email selected at once, the whole thing just locks up. I have 10 emails I've been trying to mark as read and every time I try it, it locks up. Considering pushing these systems too far can result in having it randomly crash I tend to just give up.

These crappy setups at work always make me take my home stuff less for granted. Most of my stuff is pushing close to 10 years now but it still runs circles around the stuff they give us at work.

I think the Excel thing is an animation issue. Should be able to turn it off. I find it annoying too.

Android has a bug in it that if you have Teams installed and aren't signed in, you can't call 911. Of course it's Microsoft and it's crappy software causing it - but even then apps really shouldn't be able to do that.

Wow yeah that's pretty bad lol. Of course leave it to MS to cause a weird bug like that. Though Google is also at fault for letting such a bug even be possible.
