I tried a Lindt white chocolate - citrus truffle. It's sort of like biting into Speed Stick.

Not technically today, but last week Nicehash went down, so I had to learn how to mine against mining pools like a plebe. Fortunately I'm now making more from it so it was worth doing, but still. It was almost like I had to put in effort for money.

Another bundle of nerves died in my brain. Feels much better, but feels kind of like I have dead wood in my neck. At least the fluid is draining, and I can hear better now.

A meeting that was rescheduled from Thursday to Friday got rescheduled to today, and 10 minutes after it was due to start, got rescheduled to tomorrow. And then rescheduled for later in the day tomorrow.

I have to leave work early to get to my session with my personal trainer, but I really just want to go home and eat a pizza.

I've been asked to contact a potential client whose last name is spelled such that the pronunciation appears to be doll baby. "Hello, may I speak to Ms Doll-baby" might not be the best way to start a professional relationship if the correct pronunciation turns out to be quite different. Guess I'll find out.
When I was doing radio, we were part of a commercial voice sharing network - you send your commercials off to another station so you get different voices. I had one that was so Germanic/Scandinavian that none of the locals in Indiana could pronounce it (I'm from Louisiana, I didn't have a prayer). I called up the number in the commercial and asked "How the hell do you pronounce your name?". I hooked the phone up to a recorder so I could record her saying it.

We had a paper cutter in the office that was awesome. It was the paper cutter that U.S. Army Private Wilks used to decapitate an entire Panzer division at the Battle of Rorke's Drift, tanks and all. It cut like a mofo, was stable, the blade properly sprung, perfectly aligned, perfectly straight. Our secretary, who lacks for enough to do, decided that it was old, ugly, and too heavy so she replaced it with a limp-wristed piece of crap, the Justin Bieber of paper cutters. The spring is insufficient to support the feather weight blade. Somebody's gonna lose a finger, assuming the blade doesn't get dented on their skin. The blade wobbles and curves out of true so straight cuts are all but impossible. Nothing so minor brings on quite as much rage against the wrongness of the universe as bringing a paper cutter blade down and having the paper bend instead of cut.
I had to use the pissant new paper cutter today, pissed me off all over again.

Also tried to print a map on tabloid size so I set the paper size to tabloid and it printed letter. Went back and checked the settings, checked the paper supply, everything said it was set to print tabloid. I sent the print job and the printer responded, "Which part of f-off did you not understand?" and printed letter size again.

Found a cat, and it's actually a pretty sweet little guy, but there's not room at the inn so we have to give it to a shelter.

I feel bad and have a fever, but I really have to go into work tomorrow. Can't work from home (probably). I'm not sure at what temp I can justify staying home.

Got grades back. I think I got a "gentleman's C" except with grade inflation that's an A-.

I did great on homework assignments, sucked on exams. (I can implement pseudocode in any language you can want, given wikipedia and enough coffee. And I'll document it to hell and back. But algorithm analysis escapes me.) Starting to think I'm not cut out for this.

Good use of $800. Plenty of reviews online. Here's one. The short answer is that they test and figure out how your brain's wired. Johnny might want to be an engineer. It would be nice to know if his brain is wired for it before a lot of $$ and heartache.

Nah. I did something like that back in the '90s and the results were pretty open ended. (I've got a better-than-average aptitude for pretty much everything, but I'm not super-well-suited for anything in particular.)

I just need to work harder. It's tough as a geezer with a job and a commute and whatnot. If I'd taken these classes 20 years ago I'd have breezed through them.

That makes a difference. I'd hate to change careers at my age, 53.

Got up too late on my day off. Wanted to work on my shed. I'm still going to do it but I only have like 3 hours of daylight left so if I don't finish before I'll have to setup lights which is a pain. I don't have much left to do so just want to get it done.

I didn't eat or have my coffee yet so that comes first. :p

The ridiculously short days is what I do hate about living here. We get a couple months where the days are super long but other than that they are always short.

I forgot to plug in my hybrid BMW 530e last night so it did not charge. Had to run off gas all the way in to work.

Don't look for a job that requires heavy algorithm analysis - most don't. So long as you can write code at a decently fast clip, you'll be fine. Keep up the good work!

Aye, that's the rub. Same problem in New Hampshire - makes me want to go live in Texas or something like that.

Haha I hate the intense heat, so I would not want to move down south (and I'm a ginger so the sun would kill me lol) so guess I have to put up with the shorter days haha.

You wouldn't like the weather down here. In Fort Worth Texas today it is a fridged 77F (+25C) with winds around 10 mph.

There's a bit of a warm spot hovering over the metro area there, for the moment.
Head east 180 miles and temp will drop 10 degrees. Froze last night for once.
