My Actifry came in but I was not home so have to wait till tomorrow to pick it up. At least it's Canada Post though, otherwise I'd have to wait till Monday.

I saw a grasshopper yesterday, and I had a fly on the dash of my truck today. I don't have any particular problem with grasshoppers, and flies are a fact of life, but it's fuckin' December, and they should both be as hard as pebbles cause they're fuckin' frozen, not moving around like everything's awesome, cause it isn't. Looks like I'm gonna get screwed out of yet another winter. This'll be the third in a row, and it's really pissing me off...

I dont know where you live but in Virginia its much warmer than normal for this time of year.
HOWEVER, many sources like the national weather service and old farmers almanac are predicting a very cold, brutal winter. So mostly I'm just waiting for things to get bad. But of course I'm keeping my hopes up that Christmas wont be way too warm or way too cold.

I'm right above you in MD. Last seasonal forecast I saw from NOAA said winter was supposed to be warmer and drier than usual, whatever "usual" counts as anymore. When I first started working outside, I remember thinking how great it would be cause the high temperature was gonna be above freezing for a change. I can't remember the last time I wore my winter jacket for an extended period. It was less than a week total last year. It's sitting on the office floor. I didn't wear it enough to bother washing it.

Went hiking in the mountains southwest of Tucson today. Walked into a group of freshly dropped, full backpacks and a camo balaclava. Stupid, stupid drug war is really stupidly stupid. On the other hand, I found some cool rocks, <giggle>.

The neighbors are drunk/high and partying again. I really need to win the lottery so I can get the hell away from other people.

Backpacks are annoying. There are three possibilities.
1) the packs are full of dirty clothes, water, and food in which case the people they belong to need that crap more than I do.
2) the packs are full of drugs which I have no hope of converting to cash and, more importantly, yours truly is in someone's scope.
3) the packs are full of cash which is unlikely in these days of the AHC and bitcoin and also, see point 2.

So I've got a 1/3 chance of looking at dirty underwear and a 2/3 chance of getting shot. Meanwhile I have to do my Sargent Shultz impression as I get the hell away.

What is with the St. Louis area? I was there two weeks ago and any decent restaurant we drove to it seemed as if we had to drive through a bad area of town to get to. Very dark outside with poorly lighted streets. People crossing streets in the darkness of night wearing non-reflective clothing and not crossing at intersections. Walkers EVERYWHERE! We felt like we were on the set of the walking dead. While stopped at a traffic light, had one "walker" start banging on my driver's side window, so I ran the traffic light to get away. We had to park several blocks away because of the lack of parking near the restaurant. I don't know what township we were in, but on our walk back to our rental car, a police SUV with personalized plates that said "POLICE", turned on his flashing lights to get our attention. He asked us "What are you doing walking here?", we told him we were walking back to our car from the restaurant. He told us to get in and then he drove us to our car while warning us to next time park closer.

I was getting stuff together today to make olive salad for lunch, with one of the ingredients being jalapeño slices. That got me singing in my head Hansel und Gretyl's version of Hallelujah, with hallelujah being replaced by jalapeño, and it stuck...

Yep. People just stand in the road here. Virtually every area here is rough. The first year in my office south of downtown there were four murders and a lots of sexual assaults. The place looks and feels like it's been firebombed. There are some good people here trying to make it work, but it has the feel of a dying city. If I could get an equivalent job elsewhere, I'd go.

I'll be short with this one, because I'm still in bed but tried to reply in a Reddit post on my phone so it took me 20 minutes to type out a story I was trying to share just now. I long press the text and try to copy it all in case it gets lost or doesn't post and instead it gets overwritten with an accidental letter touch. There is no undo. Fffffffffffffff me. That's the last time I type anything longer than a paragraph on my phone, even if it's using swipe.

If you ask me what the story was about, I'm going to f'n lose it.
