What female singer am I thinking of? Help...

I'm trying to recall the name of this female singer, and unfortunately my hints will be fairly vague. The few things I can offer are that her first and last name are monosyllabic, like Kate Spade, Kate Smith, Liz Phair, etc. She's not a very mainstream artist, probably nothing in the top-40 (less popular than Liz Phair I'd say, for example). I believe she would be classified as progressive, or alternative, or something similar. Also, I'm not sure, but I think she probably came into popularity within the last 10 years, but not in the last 1-2 years. She may have been popular for longer than 10 years, but I'm thinking not.

Any ideas? I'm pretty certain when I hear/read the name I'll recognize it. I just can't recall it for whatever reason.

Edit: That was quick (usually is with AT's help). I'm pretty sure it's Kate Bush, though I have no clue what song it is (I have no no useful hints for that one). Though every song I hear a clip of is really melodic? The song I heard was more like Sonic Youth sounding. Eh, maybe I'm wrong about Kate Bush.

I heard a song I liked by her on the radio a month or so ago. I remember thinking "oh, so that's who she is", recalling I had seen a number of people listing her as an artist they liked on their Facebook pages, etc.

And yes... I said it was vague.

I thought this was it... but the few song clips on the wiki page don't sound familiar. I guess I'll need to keep listening to more clips.

I can't remember any of the lyrics of the song... or that would help immensely I'm sure.

Haha... for whatever reason I can't even remember that. I just remember hearing a song, by a female, enjoying it, then hearing who it was (probably Kate Bush) and recalling how often I'd seen that name but had no clue who she was, or what she sang. Perhaps a lost cause, but I'm gonna keep looking =)

I think Kate Bush was the "name" I was thinking of, but I believe I incorrectly tied her to the song I heard. Oh well... thanks for the help guys =)
