Another vote for the Scion xb. Looks like something from the circus. I keep expecting to see a dozen clowns climb out of it.

Why all the hate on the X-Type?

I think its a beautiful looking car exterior and interior wise and so do the car rags.

Getting a 227HP+ 3.0L V6, Manual trans option, AWD-standard, 18" whls, and a big trunk is bad for $35K???

I shake my head at:
12MPg H2's
Ford Excurisons with 36" tires that have never seen gravel!
Woody PT Cruisers
300C's without the Hemi!
Rav-4's - it looks like a Matchbox SUV
Kia Amantis - Hyundai XG350's - Luxury from the Koreans

Agreed. That was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread. I'm sure there are others I shake my head at too, perhaps they'll come to me later. :p

Because you buy a Honda Accord V6 6MT for less, and get a car that holds together long after the Jag has meowed its last pitiful whimper.

older model hybrid cars. Did they really have to make all those cars look like eggs or something? Maybe they'd sell more if they weren't so fvcking ugly

Kia Rio 4 Door.

Made of aluminum foil and cardboard. And while it was cheap to fill the tank, the gas milage was teh suck.

Chevy Aveo. I like the idea of small fuel-efficient cheap cars, but that one was done all wrong.

make any car out of plastic, after it is first mineaturized of course and it'll get good mpg too.

Honda and Jaguar are not allowed in the same sentence. Regardless of resale value the Jaguar is a premium automobile. 400,000 Honda Accords leave the lots every year in America, its styling is not distinctive. Jaguars are for people who want more out of there automobile, not just basic trans. The premium leahter interior, creature comforts, real wood dash trim, and exterior styling bring flair to the Jaguar. The Honda is a basic autombile which does nothing Great. Sure the V6 is a monster but the shifter is sloppy, throws are long, interior is cheezy plastic, tires are undersized, and no AWD.

The reliablily of the 1998+ Jags are much much better. Since Ford took over reliability and gremlins are few. The S-Type is simply wonderful and continues to get high praise and latest XJ is a world class car performance and style wise.

I can see you comparing this car to the Audi, Benz, BMW, Lexus, and even the TL which it may lag in the HP/Speed categories it still is a superior auto to the plain jane mundane Accord.

OP Re-read the thread about the X-type posted here not too long ago. As I stated, its only 23-25k NEW (not inc. the 3 ltr) in many areas. Thats a very competitve buy when compared with Camrys and Accords. The Xtype is well-equipped, good warranty, and is a luxury brand...rebadged mondeo or not. Certainly not on par as far as perceived reliability with the Jap brands, but overall it is a solid vehicle.

As far as domestic cars, I am disappointed at the large number of products that are being brought to the marketplace which are simply not competitive with the best-in-class Japanese and European vehicles.

In regards to Kia, its true. They are some of the worst cars in the world. The Sorento, which I've been driving since it had only 15 miles on it, is a POS. I drove it 3 miles and got rid of it. Brand new car, but very bad overall. The Kia Rio is like a plastic barbie car with roll up windows. It feels that cheap. Again, i was also driving a brand new one. I'd hate to see how it would fare after 50k miles. The only Kia that is decent is the Amanti. Steering and suspension are horrid, but the leather is very supple, good features, sunroof, heated seats, infinity stereo, moonroof, wood, power-everything, plus its well styled.

Pontiac Aztec. I don't think I need to even explain. It is by far the ugliest vehicle made. Initial production lasted for 3 months and the redesign did not look any better.

Quote from a friend who worked on this vehicle, "It is dxmn nice riding car if you are a blind person!!"
