What factors will help get me better overclocking results?

I'm looking for a duron 600 to overclock, but I'm a little confused on what exactly I should be looking for.
Are all duron 600's the same?

Why is it that you see some duron 600's advertised as, 600@800, 600@913, 600@950, 600@1050?? Ofcourse I want my processor to be overclockable with the best, but what will help me do this? Are there some Duron's that will have better o/c'ing results than others? Do o/c'ing results have to do with other external things, like the kind of motherboard you have, cooling, ram, etc.. ?? I want to get a MSI K7T-PRO2-A. Do these motherboards have better o/c'ing results with specific duron cpu's?

I'm a confused little boy. Please guide me.

scrapster, your best bet would be to get a duron pretested
to 900 or 1050. Overclocker store has these for a little more and will reach these speeds on any mb with mulitiplyer
setting and good cooling.

If i called up a store and ordered a duron, do you think they'll give me a "late week" duron if i asked for one?

(i really don't want to pay more for a duron that's been "Pre-tested" to oc to whatever mhz)

i got a duron that had the bridges connected already...those are the early ones right?
worked fine @ 9.0x100

for FSB oc'ing ram plays an important role i think...
for oc'ing in general...heat is one of your major enemies...get good cooling...
get a mobo with a bios that can change the mulitiplier and FSB like the abit kt7 or the msi kt7pro2

The worst advice I have seen in this thread is doing business with The Overclockerz Store

Read the comments on them at resellerratings, where at least you were warned.

Edit: My faith in resellerratings just went in the toilet. I wonder who they paid off to remove the over 500 negative commments that were there just a week or so ago? :Q

Hmm, lemme rephrase that question: Has anyone here explicitely asked for and received a later week CPU before? And if so, where did you order from? I tried a couple of shops with no success :(

Do any vendors offer pretested durons with a permanent connection on the bridges? solder or similar. I'd gladly pay a few dollars more.
