Hello,

I need another system - I load the bejesus out of them with big video cards 10g nics, and enterprise raid controllers so I need more than one 8x slot. The raid controller needs a fan in between slots so I need an extended motherboard.

I've looked at the gigabyte gaming 9 - lots of features I want but their quality control sucks imho and reliability is a concern.

The ASUS ROG is much more affordable - missing some features I'd like and am concerned - not sure if it only supports the old m.2 standard or the new nvme standard. No experience with asus motherboards but I hear good things.

MSI - I haven't had an experience with them in 8 years when I had 4 of their motherboards die on me.

I'm interested in feedback from people who build a lot of heavy duty systems. Perhaps they don't sell very many extended ATX form motherboards so they don't put as much effort in on them.

Thanks for your feedback

Lots of PCI Express bandwidth needed? Motherboard with PLX switch: ex. ASRock Z270 SuperCarrier, GIGABYTE GA-Z270X-Gaming 9, and Supermicro C7Z270-PG.

ASRock features 5 Gb/s Ethernet.

BIOSTAR Z270GT9 does not have PLX switch, but has 10 Gb/s Ethernet, and is bundled with Intel SSD 600p 256 GB on Newegg.

Thanks - that asrock looks nice. Any experience with them? I don't think I've touched a supermicro in 15 years - they weren't good then but they may be now - I have no idea.

Also what does one connect a 5GB/s Ethernet to - another board with a 5Gb/s Ethernet or will it actually work on a 10g/s switch?
