I've never received a late payroll check in the last 8 years.

I use direct deposit.

Although I do have to keep an eye on it when I submit an expense report. One time they put my money in someone else's account. :Q (Similar name in the same office)

I always loved it when paychecks were late. Every day they were late, was another day of free pay...EVEN weekend days...only had it happen a couple of times, but getting paid to sit at home is always nice...

Mine doesn't, except this is funny timing b/c I just got an email saying a bonus wasn't processed on time, mysteriously. Oh well.

Our pay day (4:30pm on 15th & last day of the month) has only been missed once.

It was because checks were sent in an overnight letter pack & UPS !@$%!@'d up!!

When I was a contractor in I/T I'd occasionally get paid late. Been a while so I can't remember the excuses. I was making good money and they'd eventually get it sent out so it wasn't a walk-out issue.

well, i suppose i should clarify. i need to send out a notice to our branch managers enforcing that checks be delivered 4pm on the 15th and the last of the month. they're currently handing them out the second dhl delivers them, which is usually 10am, rather than waiting until 4pm.

i need an official sounding reason other than "just because."

Tell em all their checks might bounce since you don't actually deposit their money until 3:45. Luckily your overdraft protection has been covering it until now.

Dear Dipsh!ts,

Pursuant to company policy, please stop handing out payroll checks early or else face the guillotine.

Payroll is sacred at our company - every HR employee would be pulled off to handwrite 33,000 checks if need be, but checks are not EVER late.

As far as letting them know why they should hand out checks at 4, what is the real reason?

Enforcing a policy of handing checks out at 4:00 pm seems reasonable. Why do you need to lie?

Why can't they be handed out at 10:00 am? I'm sure everybody there doesn't have direct deposit and would like to cash their checks on their lunch hour so they can pay some bills if needed.

hmmm....I work for a bank that directly deposits my check into the account I opened with them. I seriously doubt I'll ever get a late check.
