What exactly is Wal-Mart and Target's return policy w/ no receipt

I got a few things as gifts and being the ungrateful bastard I am I want something else.

The problem is that I have no way to get the receipt.

Will either store let me trade my items for something I want?

i returned an opened closet organizer to wal-mart without the receipt and they gave me cash...

i'd say it depends on how much the items cost

I'm not sure how those stores work but I used to work at sears, and if you didn't have the receipt we refunded the lowest sale price the item had ever been on so that ppl couldn't buy at that price, "loose" their receipt, and then return the item for profit.

I found out that you can do 3 on receipt returns at Wal-Mart a year

Not sure about target

Long story short I got Norton System Works for about $12
