What exactly is a brick shit house?

I have to assume its an old time outhouse, made entirely out of brick. While I have no doubt an outhouse made out of bricks would be sturdier then an outhouse made from many other conventional building materials, an outhouse does not represent what I would consider an especially strong structure. Additionally, materials like iron seem superior to brick.

I assume it's because the walls are so closely built together it makes the whole structure stronger.

Interesting. That article seems to indicate shithouse holds no signifigance. I suspect it was probably more commonly used because outhouses are by nature hilarious.

Wouldn't hiding in the underground basement be a better tornado avoidance strategy then crowding your entire family into the crapper?
