I'm sitting here, eating Planter's dry roasted peanuts, and a thought struck me: I've been eating these things for years, but I don't know what they TASTE like. "Dry Roasted" gives me no clues, but I can't palce the actual taste.

Does anyone know?

and by fire I mean artificial burnt wood flavoring. I dunno, I only like the honey roasted or whatever the sweet peanuts are called with tasty sugar all over them.

They taste sort of like peanuts that were roasted and sprinkled with salt.

The ingredients list is incredible.

No, no, Planters Dry Roasted peanuts have a dusting, or coating, that's crazily flavored.

MSG it has already been said, you can place it but that is because most people can't describe what msg tastes like.

Ahh, I see. Interesting. I don't buy the stuff in the cans/bottles, it's way, WAYYY too expensive.

I'm going to go with some sort've MSG type thing, then.

Nor do I, I end up going the big, near-3/4-gallon sized tins from Sam's Club. They're great for parties, and last for a very long time.

I can't tell if you people are trolling or are just idiots.

The original poster is obviously asking what dry roasted peanuts are seasoned with. It's typically a combination of sugar, sea salt, paprika, garlic, onion powder, etc.

Get real.

Talk about getting real. This thread is 13 years old. This is what we call a necro thread.
Please enjoy your stay here.

Salt, peanut oil (from the peanut), peanut. A good bit of the flavor comes from the peanut.

I hate dry roasted peanuts. The "cocktail" peanuts are about 1,000% better. Those are just peanuts, some kind of oil(usually cottonseed I think), and salt.

This is absurd. The ingredients list mentions Torula Yeast which is an MSG replacement. No one was trolling. That is what the powdery coating is made of. This post is the top link on Google when searching the exact question. Do your research.
