The disease was contained through quarinteen, better sanitation, and extermination of infected livestock. Also, farmers realized that it isn't a good idea to feed animals to other animals of the same species. Cow "leftovers" used to be processed and used in cattle feed, which is a really easy way to spread disease.

Reminds me of TV Funhouse, probably the funniest thing that was never watched. The animals ate at "sames restaraunt" where you eat what you are. The dog complains to the cat asking him if he got his dog, their plates were switched.

i think there is something similar now destroying the deer populations in the midwest U.S.

some for of spongiform brain rot in deer...
time to stay clear of venison?
