What ever happened to dollar coins?

I think the main issue w/ SBA's was that they were the same size of quarters 🙁

they suck...put em in a pop machin and not only does it not count as a dollar..the darn thing eats it and jams up...dumb idea IMHO

Haven't seen or heard about one lately. Where did they all go? I bet they're all being hoarded by coin collectors.

It's just the opposite in canada. we havent had $1 bills in a long time, and they killed off $2 bills a while back too.

I hate goddamn change.

Once i take over, the only metal will be pennies, nickels, and dimes.

bills will be $0.25, $0.50, $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $33.33, $50 $100 $250 $500
muhahahahha

ok, im bored, ill quit ranting now.

Actually, that's half the problem right there. People keep collecting them instead of spending them, hence they're not really circulating like they should be.

We talking the wannabe cousin of the quarter SBA dollar coin that I only seem to get at post offices, or the gold one ?

Either way, I haven't seen any of the newer coins.

Train stations give them out as change. I guess it's easier than giving back quarters. (referring to the ticket machines...I know nothing about the actual window tellers).

they weren't accepted. people saved them instead of spent them. businesses couldn't incoperate them well enough into exchange. and there was a girl on the coin.

I think the collecting of them plays a minor role here. Other wise someone has to have a shitload of them somewhere.

I think the problem was that they wern't circulated widely enough. I only saw a few of them around every once in a while, then I saw less and less. The treasury should have dumped them by the millions into the economy. Something like that needs to reach critical mass before it's actually good to use, and they circulated them too slowly to ever hit that phase.

Plus, everything in life revolves around porn/sex somehow, and you can't really put a dollar coin down a strippers g-string

The dollar coin will never gain widespread acceptance until they stop producing dollar bills. There are so many weak arguements about dollar coins, like "they'll tear my pants pockets when I carry them around" wah wah.

The dollar coin is a good idea. It is more economical than the dollar bill.

The stamp machines in the post office always returned dollar coins as change. I'm not sure about now though...
