What engine does the 93 Taurus SHO have?

My friend just bought a 93 Taurus SHO with a 5-speed, but we're not really sure which engine it has, (3.0 or 3.2) I think they offered both that year but I'm not sure. It doesn't say on the engine block, and there is no sticker in the door jam. Anyone know?

5-Speed was 3.0 L(182 C.I.)DOHC with the heads/valves done by Yamaha.

1993 was the first year an Automatic was available.

SHO is a very fast taurus... there was one point where it had more power than the mustang, or something like that

Working for ford i should be able to answer this... SHO stands for Super High Output and the 93 uses a 3.3L engine i believe...the more current ones went upto 4.0 and 4.6

Working for Ford, you'd know that the engine in the lastest SHO's was a 3.4L V8 (1996+). The 1989 to 1995 models had either a 3.0L or 3.2L V6 depending on the transmission. 3.0 for mtx, 3.2 for atx when they became avaliable.

The 3.0L in the manual trannies had a 3.5" bore, 200lb-ft @ 4800 RPM, 220HP @ 6200RPM. The 3.2L in the auto trannies had a 3.62" bore, 215lb-ft @ 4000 RPM, 220HP @ 6000RPM.

Thanks for the info guys. I took his SHO for a ride this afternoon, it really is quick. I noticed that in 4th gear at 35mph it still felt really punchy even at such a low speed. I don't think this would compare to a Mustang from that same year though but it's definitely fast.

93 SHO does 0-60 in 7.5, 1/4 in 17. 91 GT (only year I can find stats for that body style) does 0-60 in 7.3, 1/4 in 15.6. It'd be close down low, around that speed you were messing around at, but the Mustang would pull away at higher speeds.

PS. Its the 3.0L with 220 hp. Not bad.
