What elementary school lunch food do you miss most?

I had so many favorites. I know some people might complain about the food they had but my school put up some good stuff each week.

I'd have to say the bean burritos, the chicken patties, and the pizza every Friday were my favorite.

The burritos came wrapped, so you would just hit up the salad bar and put whatever you wanted on there. I'd load it up with cheese and lettuce, then pour a bunch of salsa on. The salsa was the bomb. I can still remember the taste.

The pizza was so cheesy and sooo good. You always hoped for a big piece and when you got it, you were the king of the lunch table.

Our pizza was NASTY. Oh gosh. People j ust threw that away all the time. It wasn't even pizza. IT was more like a lasagna or whatever.

cinnamon twist...i used to trade for them on spaghetti day. my dad would make popcorn and i would trade for them...the best part was smashing all over the faces of the kids and teachers and calling them cinnamon face. good times

The only thing I remember is my 8th grade teacher....this little 5-foot nothing redhaired bombshell who liked to wear her blouse unbuttoned to the navel and bend over my desk while helping me with my learning.

My God...I used to have a boner for hours...to the point of pain.

Ah, so many good ones rubbed out in her honor.

Ours was awful. Crust tasted like cardboard, and the sauce had no resemblance to spaghetti sauce whatsoever (some vague orangy-red color, with mystery meaty bits).

Edit: Oops, I got my memories of the pizza mixed in with my memories of the spaghetti. Both were about equally bad...

I don't remember my elementary school food. But my High School had good food. It was cooked by 4-5 lunch ladies who cooked it themselves, knew how to cook, and were really nice (think 50s mother or grandmother). They made the best food. Sometimes it was pre-packaged, but they always made it better with spices or such.

College on the other hand...gourmet meals everyday in comparison.
