It's a combination of several things. Half the population will be too dumb to do basic math (11+19 = ?lol) or even score 70 on one of those simple IQ tests. Cancer rates will triple even from here. And obesity. More and more of the food and water will be poisoned. False flag after false flag drives the political agenda. The richest 0.1% own 3 times as much of the pie as they do today. It is the top 5% who will really suffer the most. Each and every year, the top 5% most affluent will be reduced in number by roughly 3-4%.

1,2,3,5. '1' is high-powered special interests in general: corporations / public workers/unions. We're well on the way to 2, 3, and 5.

first two combined with economic depression.

corporations own the government and use their control to enrich themselves while screwing the rest of the nation economically. the depression hits the average people the hardest, but the super wealthy feel few effects if any, and may even become more wealthy due to their ability to actual profit off of a loss. in the meantime, the government tries to further curtail individual liberties in the name of safety (despite our nearly 2-decade continuous drop in violent crime)

This.

In an extreme situation, I'd wager a single-party dictatorship is the most likely scenario, though civil war is even more likely. Reading on Hitler, a reason he had amassed so much public support was because economic conditions were so harsh, the public was looking for a savior, someone they feel empathizes with them and can truly solve their problems, and so they were especially vulnerable to the heavy propaganda.

There are already some similarities and fear mongering that has the potential to lead to such a dictatorship here today. Though the government is significantly stronger now than Germany's was when Hitler was climbing, and our economy is still in far better shape. Except for some unforeseen disaster, the worst case scenario I can predict (following the above) would more resemble a civil war between the government side, and the fictional resistance.

There is no private property, when Government, Lawyers, and Insurance companies get their say.

Our ONLY protection, as citizens, is the Bill of Rights aka the first 10 amendments to the constitution.

You'll notice, none of the bill of rights say "you shall not be taxed." The Government can tax you to hell and back.

The bill of rights, are rights that our forefathers thought would help us today.

They didn't realize how powerful government becomes, even in light of the bill of rights.

To answer the OP, Communism, is the end result of unfettered Governement.

It all ends the same way, badly, and predictably. There is nothing new under the sun, see below for proof. This is not partisan. Both major parties have been moving inexorably towards the same conclusion, if from slightly different angles.

"Every step we take towards making the State our Caretaker of our lives, by that much we move toward making the State our Master."
Dwight D. Eisenhower

"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government -- lest it come to dominate our lives and interests."
Patrick Henry

"The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home."
James Madison

"It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government."
Thomas Paine

"I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by the gradual and silent encroachment of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpation."
President James Madison (1751-1836) speech, Virginia Convention, 1788

The US is already controlled by a single party Corporate Oliagarchy that uses a fear driven police to keep the masses under control. I suspect the economic depression will continue for at least 30-40 years. I consider it economic depression if jobless rate rises or median incomes fall.

Bonus points for both at once? Coming soon IMO.

Plus inflation on food and gas = triple combo deluxe

It could be multiple things. Corporate oligarchy AND police state. Given how the "too big to fails" are basically beyond criminal prosecution because "the economy", I'd say we're already under option 1.

And Rome would never fall, and the Titanic would never sink.

I'm sure the majority of citizens of every great empire in history thought their society and way of life would come to and end.

Then I pose to you, sir - did people of those generations past have access to information that would have allowed them to voice their ideas and opinions in opposition?

What makes it better? Its probably worse because everyone just sits at their computer and argues and nothing ever happens.

I'm sure some of them did, obviously not in the sense that we do today.

But that's neither here nor there IMO considering how ignorant most people are in regards to history despite this generation having more access to information than any other before it.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United Corporations of America, and to the plutocracy for which it stands, one nation divided with tyranny and ignorance for all.
